blue and white with a hint of red

I’m definitely feeling the red, white and blue vibe today and playing around with some cute new bowls and a few flowers from the garden. Do you have ever have ideas for themes pop in your head? I definitely had a vision and luckily I found all the missing pieces I was looking for!

A trip to Home Goods can quite literally get the party started! I found the white bowls, blue and white flower pot and a set of five vintage-inspired vases for the center of the table there this week and so this whole patriotic look came together pretty easily.

happy flag day!

the duchess of essex

It's been a month since the Newport Harbor Home Tour, but I’m still thinking about this amazing modernly-vintage family home on Essex Lane. Pardon the pun in the title of this post, but designer Ashley Clark has created a swoon-worthy home for her family, and deserves the a little bit of a royal title, haha. It’s just a play on words with Meghan Markle’s title of Duchess of Sussex.

Ashley combined her favorite vintage pieces to fill her modern Scandinavian-style farmhouse. With traditional finishes and lots of modern features, this home was without a doubt the fan favorite on the home tour this year. Here’s a peek at some of my favorite rooms and vignettes from home tour day...

a pretty sunday brunch

Hints of summer were in the air yesterday. The sun was out bright and early, so that motivated me to create a fun and festive little table setting for the family to wake up to and then later enjoy a relaxing Sunday brunch at.

A lazy Sunday was just what the doctor ordered, so why not indulge in a little pretty eye candy for the table?

Pink peonies and a fabulous vintage gingham tablecloth were my inspiration for the whole table. Pink and green is one of my favorite summertime color combos. These colors remind me of Lilly Pulitzer prints, key lime pie and pink lemonade. All sure signs of summer!

The tablecloth, a flea market find, really sets the tone for the vintage inspired look of this tablescape. Accents of pink flowers, glassware and napkins balance out the bold color of the green gingham pattern.

Now that the table's set, it's on to the menu items… an easy frittata and fresh fruit are just the right choices for everyone.

I hope you take time today to treat yourself to something special today. Whether it’s buying yourself a few fresh flowers from the grocery store or just relaxing for a few minutes with your feet up reading your favorite magazine, remember to take a little time for yourself.

It’s Monday after all,

and we have the whole week ahead of us!

weekend roses

“La Vie En Rose. It is the French way of saying, 'I am looking at the world through rose-coloured glasses.” ― Audrey Hepburn

Looking at life through rose-colored glasses is the optimistic approach to life. Seeing good in the bad, feeling like your glass is half full, not half empty…

So seeing these beautiful garden roses instantly makes me smile…

Roses have such an old-fashioned air about them. Just their scent alone evokes lovely memories and conjures up romantic thoughts. They remind us to appreciate the past, while embracing the future, and they add that romantic feminine accent to a table that everyone appreciates.

Being a Romantic is not afraid of being yourself, so go ahead and add a little romantic touch to your dinner table. After all, the table is where your dear friends and family congregate for meals, so setting the right mood can make all the difference in the world. Let your creativity take over and enjoy!

Just remember, “La Vie En Rose."
