dreamy kitchen inspiration

With all the wild, cold weather out there, I hope you’re staying warm wherever your home may be. There’s some nasty weather out there.

I’m just popping in today to share some lovely kitchens I spotted in a recent issue of “Dream Kitchens & Baths” magazine. Just a little Sunday eye candy for us to enjoy…

Enjoy the rest of the weekend 💕

farmhouse style spring features

The new Spring issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style is now out, and I have to say it’s one of my favorites ever.

I was privileged to have 11 projects to work on for this issue and was absolutely stunned when one of the pictures I submitted was chosen for the cover!

The DIY projects they wanted were so up my alley, and I think that’s why I was able to work on so many. Among the projects I created, styled and photographed were three for the “Happy Houseplants” article.

Here are the three pictures that include a fun little embroidery hoop trellis project, a houseplant tower made from stacking vintage nesting tables, and a tablescape with several of my favorite houseplants as the centerpiece.

During the early days of the pandemic, our sunny living room became a haven for these plants, and I also learned how to propagate more by rooting cutting in water.

Vintage McCoy flowerpots are a cohesive element to this table, and I love how all the greenery and pale blues look with my Luka Blue table runner and napkins by Pacific and Rose.

Blueberry French Toast Casserole anyone? Treat yourself to a weekend favorite any day of the week. This one is so easy to make and is studded with fresh blueberries and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Recipe can be found on page 112 of this issue.

There's also a fun recipe I whipped up for Cinnamon Roll Crepes on page 111.

I was also thrilled Country Sampler Farmhouse Style was going to feature vintage food crates in an article because I do have a few really old ones that I love.

Among the crate projects included for the “Well Crated" article was the old Schwinn bike that made the cover.

I also put together a fun on-the-go picnic crate that has everything on would need for a pretty little picnic.

And then there's this tablescape...

The challenge was to set a table with a variety of spring vegetables running down the center of the table.

Vintage blue and white checked gingham anchors the table, and I also sprinkled in reclaimed clear glass bottles to act as candle holders. Little white daisies also add a vintage charm to the table.

White cotton napkins were dyed naturally with turmeric root to reveal the most beautiful yellow color. Fresh garden herbs add fragrance and a touch of the garden to the table.

Give me all the pretty flowers so I can make a living, breathing pennant garland. Wouldn’t this be romantic for Valentine’s Day, a bridal shower or Mother’s Day?

I took scraps of some of my favorite chintzy floral fabrics and sewed them into an old-fashioned style bunting with a few pockets full of posies. Check out all the details on page 88

All-in-all, I think this is a really fun issue, filled with lots of springtime inspiration and lovely home tours. If you have a chance to pick up a copy, let me know what you think!

the cutest valentine napkins to make

With an upcoming photoshoot for Valentine’s Day, I needed something special to add a spark to the table, so I decided to stencil my own “Conversation Heart” napkins.

I wanted something to blend in with this pretty Luka Pink tablecloth and not take too much away from the pretty new plates I just got. But it had to make a bit of a statement… a Valentine’s Day statement.

These fun stencils were found on Amazon. I bought two sets: one with a variety of different heart sizes, and another with six different Valentine’s sayings.

You know how the conversation heart candies have a slightly powdery look to them? Well, stenciling is perfect to achieve this effect.

I happened to have six plain white napkins, so I started with stenciling a light pink heart in a corner of each napkin. I then went in with a pretty red color for the written message, just like the candies.

All in all, this project couldn’t have taken more than ten minutes from start to finish.

Here are all the napkins so you can see them. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out, but I’m even happier with how they look at the table.

I’ll be sharing more on the whole table soon, especially details of these pretty plates and tablecloth. All in all, Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love, and love come in so many different forms, doesn’t it?

If you’d like to try this project out, here are the supplies I used:

·      Pink Paint

·      Red Paint

·      Heart Stencils

·      ValentineMessages Stencil

·      Set of WhiteNapkins

·      Stencil Brush

springtime table inspiration

Don’t let the wintertime blues get you down. Spring is just around the corner!

If you want to get in on an early seasonal rush, try a fun, floral pattern like this. It’s the absolute newest pattern from Pacific and Rose and it’s call Lilibet Green.

Originally designed as a nod to Mardi Gras, this festive little pattern reaches beyond the streets of New Orleans and can be right at home celebrating Easter, spring or any summer festivity.

You can really see how pretty this Lilibet pattern is on the napkin, placemat and tablecloth. I just love the vining, ferny pattern, so I matched my flowers to it.

This table is brought to life with the help of a little bouquet foraged from the garden. Cosmos, statice and hellebores are currently blooming right now and just happen to match this brand-new print.

Best of all, this gorgeous print isn’t limited to the table. Look at this cozy robe and cosmetic bag! They’re so perfect for home or for packing up when you go on your next weekend getaway.

The kitchen tea towels are so luxurious and just like these other items, make great gifts, perhaps for a birthday or Mother’s Day.

Gather up your Mardi Gras beads and get yourself a King Cake, because Mardi Gras is on March 1st. Just because this event has been celebrated for centuries doesn’t mean you have to be left out this year…

Set your table up nice and pretty for this celebration which also heralds the impending arrival of springtime! You’ll be surprised at how it will cheer up the whole room, and boost your mood as well.
