a gorgeous new garden green tablecloth

It’s early morning in the breakfast room. I’m starting off the day with a few other new treasures on the table, and it’s an easy to put a big smile on my face!

Stop and take a peek at this gorgeous new Garden Green Tablecloth and Napkins from August Table. 

The look of these table linens is so cozy thanks to the fact that these are all 100% linen. The darling little stylized floral pattern is a classic.

 

Don’t you love the look of these wonderful new woven Safavieh farmhouse chairs? And there are also a few other goodies to share…

A pair of woven wicker glass vases in two complimentary sizes. These are so versatile for holding flowers, stems and even candles. Best of all, they look very pretty on their own too!

As a soothing backdrop, I just clipped a few eucalyptus branches to add a lovely bit of green to the room.

  

Freshly cut sprigs of kumquats add life to this little scene, not to mention a fun pop of color. The morning light in February is magical!

Check out these cute stoneware bowls from Antique Farmhouse. I love how they look with this Garden Green Tablecloth and round burlap placemats.

I have this same Garden tablecloth pattern in the yellow and gray tone that I love to style with lemons, but today I felt like a pop of orange from the kumquats would be fun!

Here’s another quick look at the new Garden Green tablecloth from August Table. Sometimes the simplicity of a simple white centerpiece is all you need to create a soothing look for the room.

 

A pair of white ironstone pitchers always come in handy, whether they’re holding some flowers from the garden or pouring your favorite iced tea. 

One of my favorite ways to serve Arnold Palmers is to have tea and lemonade in separate pitchers so guests create their own custom formula, over ice, with a sprig of mint!

lucy and ivy

There’s just something exactly about this glorious green and white ivy print, and all I know is I'm in LOVE! It all started with first seeing this pretty tablecloth and napkins from Pacific and Rose.

I instantly remembered that I had some vintage Franciscan Ivy dinner plates and thought these items would be a match made in heaven.

The Franciscan Ivy dinner plates are a classic piece of American dinnerware. They were first introduced in the 1940s by the Franciscan Pottery company, which was based in California.

 

The design features a charming ivy pattern that wraps around the edges of the plates, giving them a timeless and elegant look. These plates became especially popular after being featured on the TV show "I Love Lucy"

These lovely Ivy plates and other dishware is a classic that's been around since 1948, and more importantly, you may recognize it in a black and white version, because it was featured on "I Love Lucy" for years in those darling scenes where Lucy and Desi are in the kitchen having breakfast. It was Lucy's everyday dishware!!

 

The Franciscan Ivy dinner plates definitely made their mark in TV history thanks to "I Love Lucy." 

I love how they added such a cozy touch to the Ricardo’s kitchen scenes. These Ivy clad cups and plates have become iconic in their own right.

 

It's so fascinating how something as simple as dinnerware can hold such nostalgic value and bring back memories of those classic moments. 

Do you have any favorite episodes or scenes from "I Love Lucy"? Lucy always had such a knack for getting into hilarious situations!

 

Lucy and Ricky had such great chemistry, and their kitchen antics were always entertaining. 

Whether it was Lucy’s hilarious attempts at cooking or Ricky’s exasperated reactions, those moments were pure TV gold.

One of my favorite scenes is when Lucy tries to bake bread, and it turns into a gigantic loaf that pushes her out of the kitchen. Such a classic! 

Do you have a favorite kitchen moment from the show? Or maybe a scene that always makes you laugh?

While the Franciscan Ivy dinner plates and cups are most famously associated with "I Love Lucy," they also appeared in other shows like "Bewitched."

 

As you can see here in Larry and Louise’s kitchen, the ivy pattern's timeless charm made it a popular choice for set designers looking to create a cozy, homey atmosphere.

Now take the plates featured on the set of Samantha and Darrin’s dining room. It’s red transferware. 

Red and white transferware, along with blue and white transferware has been a classic for hundreds of years!   

But set in the groovy Americana set of the 1960’s Bewitched dining room, it once again creates a relatable comfort zone for viewers.

 

Transferware is known for its intricate patterns and vibrant colors, making it a popular choice for both everyday use and special occasions.

These dishes often feature scenes of pastoral landscapes, floral designs, or historical events, and they were produced by various manufacturers, including Wedgwood, Johnson Brothers, Spode, and Mason's.

The red and white color combination is particularly striking and has a timeless appeal.

alfresco: ivy at the shore

 

There's something so soothing about this green and white Ivy print!

Maybe it’s the outdoor nature of it combined with a nostalgic feel...

Here in Newport Beach, we have very mild weather, due to the onshore breezes we get so often. So setting an alfresco table is always a great idea! 

I don't know what it is exactly about this glorious green and white ivy print, all I know is I'm in LOVE! You can find this pretty tablecloth and napkins over at Pacific and Rose, along with a few other pretty ivy patterned items.

And how about those pretty white snapdragons? I grew them myself this year in my cut flower garden along with these pretty blush colored Desdemona roses.

 

Each place setting features a vintage French onion soup lion bowl filled with a personalized bouquet of one Desdemona rose wrapped in a sprig of English ivy. 

My favorite bamboo flatware is the perfect choice for this elegant alfresco tablescape.

color of the month: seafoam

Seafoam green is such a refreshing and calming color choice for home decor! It brings a touch of the coastal vibe right into your living space, creating a tranquil and serene atmosphere.

Here’s some inspiration that caught my eye from the pages of Country Living UK magazine.

Painting one or more walls in seafoam green can add a subtle yet significant pop of color without being overwhelming. It pairs beautifully with whites, beiges, and even greys.

 

Consider adding a seafoam green sofa, armchair, or even dining chairs to bring a sense of calm to the room.

 

Use seafoam green throws, pillows, rugs, curtains, and table accessories to introduce the color in a more subdued way. It also looks lovely in patterned textiles.

 

You can add seafoam green through art pieces, vases, lamps, and other decorative items. This can create focal points in the room.

new table linens for October ...

and November and December!

This is my favorite time of year, as many of you know! One added bonus to all the fall fun, is that new patterns and colorways from Pacific & Rose always debut at this time of year.

 

This month we have a new take on the Lilibet pattern. Hand-blocked in India in this most beautiful green color, this gorgeous green pattern is so perfect for any time of the year. 

In fact, as much as I love it for spring, summer and fall, I think it’s also so perfect for Christmas!

But first...

 

Check out my breakfast room all dolled up with the Lilibet Green tablecloth, placemats and napkins.

An informal bouquet of garden hydrangeas that I just snipped from the garden provides a lovely contrast to the soothing greens of this pattern.     

  

Sometimes I prefer the look of a table runner, and it’s so easy to switch out the tablecloth for the runner, with everything else in the same places, like the placemats, plates, glassware, napkins and flowers.

 

Picture yourself here at this lovely place setting at the table… 

but wait!

 

The 3 new patterns in soft tangerine and green (Kimberly, Jill and Tippit)  that debuted in September are meant to coordinate with this Green Lilibet pattern, but I love a bit of the unexpected, like the Charlotte Berry napkin (bottom right) and the Pomegranate Red napkin (bottom left) that's just so elegant for Christmas.

 

You can never go wrong with green and red for the holidays!  

 

And speaking of holidays, so many wonderful reasons to celebrate are coming up… Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Lilibet in Green is such a chic look for Christmas! As you can see, a few key accessories are all you need to evoke a festive winter look.

 

I used my favorite new Pinecone Forest Napkin Rings from Arthur Court to dress up the Lilibet napkin. Can you spot my new little Christmas Tree Salt & Pepper Shakers from Vagabond House?

 

Green cabbageware plates like these match the green of Lilibet’s pattern perfectly! And a collection of vintage-like Santa Clauses adds a little whimsy to the center of the table!

 

Another pattern that I think is sooooo pretty for Christmas is the Ivy print. For many people, ivy along with holly are traditional symbols of the season.

 

Ivy is a symbol of everlasting life, devotion and loyalty. It’s also evocative of an old-fashioned Christmas, which I love!

I’m stocking up on both these favorites as they not only look great for Christmas, but they’re so beautiful for spring and summer as well!

This is another one of those patterns that will look beautiful any time of the year, but at Christmas with all the twinkling lights and candles, it’s really special.  

 

 

With that in mind, the Charlotte Berry table linens are also back in stock. A quintessential Christmas look is easy to pull off with this charming pattern but wait… let’s not limit ourselves to Christmas.

 

I’ve used this pattern during the summer paired with blue and it makes a spectacular combination for 4^th of July!
