roses for valentine's day

Roses. 💐 You can never have too many roses, especially at this time of year!

At this table, I started with a small bouquet of old-fashioned garden roses…

and placed them in a small vintage red and white transferware tureen.

The rose theme continues with a cozy chintz table square and heart-shaped wreath in the window.

"Love isn't something you find. Love is something that finds you."

I hope you’ll follow along with me on Instagram for all the latest projects and décor I will be sharing in 2025.

the cutest valentine napkins to make

With an upcoming photoshoot for Valentine’s Day, I needed something special to add a spark to the table, so I decided to stencil my own “Conversation Heart” napkins.

I wanted something to blend in with this pretty Luka Pink tablecloth and not take too much away from the pretty new plates I just got. But it had to make a bit of a statement… a Valentine’s Day statement.

These fun stencils were found on Amazon. I bought two sets: one with a variety of different heart sizes, and another with six different Valentine’s sayings.

You know how the conversation heart candies have a slightly powdery look to them? Well, stenciling is perfect to achieve this effect.

I happened to have six plain white napkins, so I started with stenciling a light pink heart in a corner of each napkin. I then went in with a pretty red color for the written message, just like the candies.

All in all, this project couldn’t have taken more than ten minutes from start to finish.

Here are all the napkins so you can see them. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out, but I’m even happier with how they look at the table.

I’ll be sharing more on the whole table soon, especially details of these pretty plates and tablecloth. All in all, Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love, and love come in so many different forms, doesn’t it?

If you’d like to try this project out, here are the supplies I used:

·      Pink Paint

·      Red Paint

·      Heart Stencils

·      ValentineMessages Stencil

·      Set of WhiteNapkins

·      Stencil Brush

in the mood for sweets, hearts & flowers

January just seems to have whizzed by in a flash, so “Happy February!” I’ve been MIA from the blog and instagram lately, but there’s lots happening behind the scenes.

We’ve had some “projects” going on here at home, and there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel. We’ve made a few changes in our living room to provide better flow and prettier views out to the garden. I can’t wait to share this room with you soon! It's still a major work in progress.

My she shed is also getting a mini makeover. The old roof came off, and we went with a more budget friendly option of a metal roof. It’s looks so cool, and my right-hand handyman George made it happen. Pictures coming in a few weeks...

In the meantime, I’m here to share a few pretty Valentine’s Day vignettes from Ciao’s archive. I have been thrifting a bit and have an interesting secondhand table in the works for February 14th...

My tableware storage closets have been overflowing over the past few months, so each day this week, I’ve been adding a few wonderful things to the Blog Shop. It’s bittersweet parting with some of my favorite plates and glassware, but I know they’ll find just the right home.

I also have a few blue and white farmhouse style treasures listed this week.

I’ve acquired so much transferware over the years, that I’ll be going through it today and sharing some favorites with you on the Blog Shop. Some of these pieces have even been featured in magazines, which makes letting go of them a little bit harder.

What are you all collecting these days?

As the month of February arrives, I just love getting out my red transferware dishes. Just about anything you pair with them looks pretty, especially pink and red flowers and cute heart-shaped desserts!

I made these fun Conversation Heart Shortbread Cookies a couple of years ago and plan on making them again next week. Any kind of shortbread cookie is a family favorite!

And of course, I LOVE chocolate, especially dark chocolate.

How about you...

What are your favorite Valentine’s Day treats?

ciao! fabiana
