just like grandma's dishes, but better

I remember growing up with Corelle plates, and I’ll never forget the nostalgic feel of these glass plates. And now… I’m happy to share with you a peek at the newest era of Corelle.

They’re timeless and so strong, but light and airy at the same time. This new “Botanical” pattern is highlighted by coastal blue, organic lines and pretty florals.

This pattern evokes a timeless seaside style for any meal or gathering.

I paired my “Botanical” floral and striped Corelle with this pretty blue and white Seville tablecloth and napkins from Pacific and Rose

It's a match made in heaven!

Going into the weekend ready for

casual family gatherings around this table.

This boxed set of Corelle includes floral and striped salad plates, a contrasting stripe for the dinner plates, and generous bowls edged in blue.

I love how they mix and match with each other! And the blue designs on the plates is my favorite shade of denim.

Do you recall the groovy patterns that Corelle made during the 1970’s?

Their variety of patterns and styles were so popular for that era, and the quality never quit! These plates are designed to be used daily and hold up to wear and tear beautifully.

Aren’t these vintage magazine ads from Pinterest so much fun?!

Today, Corelle still offers pretty patterns and durable plates that make setting a table so much fun.

I still can’t get over how lovely this Botanical Floral set of plates coordinates perfectly with Pacific & Rose’s Blue Seville table linens.

How would you style your Corelle dishes?

the most elegant pumpkin decor

Pumpkin season continues on into November with some of my favorite heirloom varieties that I bought several weeks ago at Armstrong Gardens.

From the middle of September right on through to Thanksgiving, pumpkins have a dear place in my home. I have some of the prettiest ones displayed in my living room.

I always go for the soft muted tones of these gorgeous gourds, and it’s always fun to incorporate them onto a tablescape, mantel, sideboard or hutch.

I understand some of these varieties are also very delicious, so I’ll have to do a little more research and find out which ones work best for baking and roasting.

All I know is I love to see them in their full autumn glory here in the living room among the houseplants and books.

This bumpy green one is just so beautiful! It reminds me of a cozy, chunky knit sweater, doesn’t it?

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, friends!

let's set an easy red, white & blue table

My favorite way of adding just a touch of red, white and blue to a table is to use red transferware and blue transferware plates combined with a pretty set of napkins like this Aster print from August Table.

This is such an easy look to put together and could be used for Memorial Day, 4th of July, and right through to the end of summer!

The secret to making this table fun is the three-dimensional fan fold of the napkin. It’s really easy to do. Just check out my tutorial HERE.

This Aster print napkin from August Table is so perfect for this technique, because of the fun and cheery pattern. I know they’re flowers, but they remind me of 4th of July fireworks!

Also, a necessity, fun napkin rings like THESE.

Here’s the fanned napkin look again, this time in a different color palette and with the Juniper Slate napkins from August Table.

And now here’s a third look, back to the patriotic theme with some vintage napkins from Serena & Lily.

I’m hoping for some sunny weather for the weekend so we can set up a fun table outside with these cute Aster napkins, and lots of other red, white and blue details.

An easy dessert tip that I love is to get a yummy store-bought cake, like this one from Trader Joe’s, and dress is up with a few strawberries, blackberries and raspberries like I did here.

It only takes a minute, but ends up looking so cute and festive!

fresh entertaining ideas for spring

Welcome to our “Spring Brunch and Entertaining Blog Hop”! Today I’m joined by 4 super talented bloggers, and we’re showcasing our favorite ways to prepare and host a Spring Brunch.

First, I’ll be showing you all the details of my tablescape and family room mantel, and then I’ll turn it over to Mary Ann, Cindy, Annie and Michele.

I recently had the opportunity to style the new line of table linens from Pacific & Rose, so I was really inspired to use this Lilibet tablecloth in the Cornflower color as the base of my design.

Each place setting is layered with some of my favorite table wares, including the Serena & Lily Raffia place mats and simple white farmhouse style plates from Home Goods that I use ALL the time.

They really set off the pretty pattern in the tablecloth.

The breakfast room is bright and sunny, and I love sharing my different table settings in here.

My love for blue and white is evident with the display of vintage transferware plates up above the windows, so I love incorporating that look onto my tables.

Since this is a brunch table for the family, I kept the middle of the table fairly simple.

Just a big bouquet of stock in the middle with a smaller little crock of white cottage roses to add a touch of the garden is all that’s needed.

This is one of my favorite little bunnies, and here he (or she) is keeping a watchful eye over the breakfast eggs.

Two more larger bunnies on the sideboard are flanking the "extras" that may be needed during brunch.

All three of these rabbits are lightweight faux cement, so they’re easy to move around if needed.

Over on the mantel, I’ve collected a few of my favorite pitchers, vases and crocks to display more spring flowers.

The lilacs, stock and pink roses are from Trader Joes, and the white cottage roses and early hydrangeas are from my garden.

These funny little moss bunnies are also from Home Goods from a few years back. I love how they stand out against all the blue and white.

I really love how the Cornflower blue of this Lilibet tablecloth sets off the rest of the table with all of its spring elements. Imagine if this tablecloth were white.

The whole look would be sooooo different. The hand-blocked, unique print of this cloth really makes a world of difference!

Now on to sharing more
Spring inspiration with my friends here:

After you check out the pretty tables from Mary Ann, Annie, Michele and Cindy, please check back here with me tomorrow for more spring inspiration.
