the best lemon tablescapes

 

Our largest lemon tree is still so full of lemons right now, that it's such a pleasure to use them every day for cooking and to flavor our water and teas.

In addition to that, when life gives you so many amazing lemons, it's also fun to fill lots of pretty bowls and sprinkle those citrus filled bowls to different rooms around the house. 

Of course using them for a table setting is also a wonderful idea that is always a fresh look that can't be beat. 

I love the effortless pop of color and lovely scent it brings to each and every table setting. Here are a few of my favorite examples. 

 

Easy as lemon meringue pie, a table runner and matching lemon place mats instantly add loads of charm to your dining space, indoors or out! A frilly cake stand filled to brim with lemons makes a bold statement.

 

I can’t help feeling a sense of happiness looking at these new lemon pattern table linens from Pacific and Rose. 

They're so easy to accessorize too, just add a few fresh lemons and pretty flowers and the look is complete!

When life gives you lemons, we must remember to enjoy them in every way possible! 

Note the unique quality of all these lemon patterned table linens and accessories that are hand block-printed by artisans at the fair-trade workshop in Jaipur, India. 

This timeless pattern plays off the real lemons in my home so well.

The Snowball Viburnum flowers are from my cottage garden, and easily arranged in a vintage white ironstone pitcher. 

I love how they look with the soft green tones of the pretty Lemon Tablecloth and Napkins. 

It's so fun to decorate and "play house" with these beautiful new gifted treasures! First up is this beautiful new "Garden Yellow" tablecloth and napkins from August Table.

The texture of this soft linen and cotton blend is amazing and I also love the little lace-like inset on the tablecloth.... Can you spot it?

 

It's perfectly acceptable to mix the faux with the real, and in this case, both types of lemons are a hit!

And from Antique Farmhouse, check out this gorgeous faux lemon and eucalyptus wreath. 

It's so realistic that it's hard to distinguish the real lemons on the table from the faux variety! 

Also new this week is the Distressed Metal Urn, also from Antique Farmhouse. It's got the perfect patina for any situation!!.

 

Weekend vibes here at home in the breakfast room.

 

One of my favorite tablecloths is this one called “Monet’s Kitchen” from Pacific and Rose. 

Inspired by the Provencal color palette of Claude Monet’s Kitchen in Giverny. Of course fresh lemons and a few limes are the perfect accents for this pattern. 

Who wouldn't want to wake up to a sunny, fresh table like this for breakfast?!

 

This pretty pattern is block-printed by hand in lovely shades of blue, green and yellow.

 

I love how perfectly it blends with my citrusy centerpieces.

 

It's so perfect for giving your home a weekend vibe all week long!

 

Life. Lemons. Lemonade. You know the drill... 

But making the best of something also includes a little indulgence, like this gorgeous new Lemon Glass Pitcher from Vagabond House I absolutely fell in love with.

 

So, when you're making your lemons into lemonade, remember to treat yourself to something special, because after all, YOU are worth it!!

farmhouse style magazine for spring

 

Although it’s still the very beginning of January, 2025 is off to an inspiring start with the brand new Spring issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse style hitting the stores any day now. And I have a little preview for you!

 

A little springtime inspiration is really what I need right now, after months of living and breathing Christmas décor, the fun pages of this magazine are just perfect for that after new year lull!

Here's a little peek (above) of one of my projects on page 90. 

 

Lisa Sloan is the editor of Farmhouse Style now, and I love reading the Editor’s Notes from each and every issue. It’s the most helpful companion to this magazine and helps me to make sure I don’t miss a thing in this jam-packed issue.

For this spring 2025 issue, I have 4 projects featured and I can’t wait to show them to you! As a contributor to this magazine for the last 6 years or so, my projects and recipes are usually featured in the “Do-It-Yourself Farmhouse” section.

Making ribbon from some of your favorite fabrics is one of life’s simple pleasures. If you’re a fan of pretty little vintage prints, calicos, stripes and checks like I am, this is a project for you!

 

Even leftover scraps of fabric from quilting or other projects will not go to waste when you make your own ribbon.

 

In an article called “Indoor Mini Gardens”, I have 2 projects featured. You already got a peek at the first one, a fun and whimsical Soda Crate Landscape I made with simple supplies from a garden store and some items I already had on hand.

 

This idyllic tabletop cottage and garden patch reminds me of Kate Winslet’s little English Rosehill Cottage in the movie The Holiday. Who wouldn’t want to live in a little bungalow like this?! 

Call me Iris Simpkins all day long, because I want to live here!

"I have found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said, "Journeys end in lovers meeting." What an extraordinary thought.” " This is one of my favorite quotes from the movie.

 

 

Before I get to my other “Indoor Mini Garden” project I want to show you this fun stenciled vintage style floorcloth I made. Using an interesting Mexican style pattern, I simply created this pattern with black acrylic paint.

 

This started off as a simple piece of heavy-duty canvas that I cut to size, painted with gesso, and hemmed with a glue gun. After stenciling, I sealed it with several coats of matte polyurethane.

 

It's the perfect mat for my kitchen and I use it in front of my cooktop.

Next up is a portable and useful Plant-Care Caddy that contains everything you need to be the perfect mother (or father) to your indoor houseplants. I originally put this together during lockdown in 2020, and I have used it ever since.

My secret is to buy a pretty piece of oilcloth like this blue and white one to make spills and messes easier to manage. It folds up nicely into the caddy.

Here’s another shot of the pretty cover by my Instagram friend, Stephanie Leleux. I love the soft greens and this adorable pair of bunnies.

 

Melissa Gilbert, guest columnist, tells us all about her new-found joy of quilt making. Isn’t this the perfect hobby for someone who grew up on the set of Little House on the Prairie surrounded my all the homespun, calico and vintage fabrics that make quilts so treasured?

 

She’s currently making a nine-patch quilt, which I love making too! I’ve never made a full sized one, as in the past I’ve only made crib sized ones.

 

As always, this Spring issue is filled with gorgeous and authentic farmhouse style homes. Here’s a peek at some of my faves…

double chocolate pecan pie

You’re in for a real treat today! A double chocolate pecan pie that is so delicious and easy to make, you’ll be saying, “It’s easy as this pie!”

I originally found this recipe in an old newspaper clipping from 1974. I was intrigued by the simplicity of its ingredients and the fact that it has no corn syrup like most pecan pies do.

Old-fashioned recipes are one of my favorite things to make and collect. They just are so homey and comforting. Check out some of my favorites here. 

The original newspaper clipping suggests eating hot or cold with ice cream or whipped cream, and I couldn’t agree more! It’s delicious any way you slice it!

I created this lux dessert for Country Sampler Farmhouse Style magazine for their Summer 2024 issue and it’s filed under “Blue Ribbon winning Recipes”, and this one sure is!! 

It's very tasty any  time of year, but here I have it styled for a Fourth of July party with lots of vintage accessories and table linens. 

Although the blue check tablecloth is a vintage find, the napkins are from Ikea, and offer that pretty calico country look. In fact, I've spotted these same napkins on the Great British Baking Show! 

A few pretty blooms and ivy from the garden brighten up the whole table!

happy 2025 !

Pretty purple roses from my summer garden. 

As we welcome the year 2025, I have to say again how truly grateful I am to have friends like you. I really appreciate the time you take to check in with me on this blog! 

For me 2024 has been a pretty good year. The good thing is that I kept busy on several new projects and even started styling more for magazines, which is a real treat! 

I’m still contributing to Country Sampler Farmhouse Style for every season, and I’m really excited about the Spring 2025 issue that will be out soon. In fact, I'm currently working on four more projects for the Autumn 2025 issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style. 

The most exciting news this year was that they selected my photo for the cover of the Winter 2024 issue! Check out the reel here!

I’m always styling the latest projects for Pacific & Rose. Elizabeth carries the prettiest block-printed table linens and  other great accessories like robes, aprons and cosmetic bags. I'm currently styling her newest colorway in the Lilibet pattern. 

It's called Caramel, and the color is so in tune with the Pantone Color of the year, Mocha Mousse! Come back in a couple of days, so you can see it!! 

Two lovely patterns from Pacific & Rose

This year I’ve begun a fun partnership with Antique Farmhouse. My two biggest projects for them were a Bridgerton Inspired tablescape and an English Cottage Christmas “event” that featured my home all done up for the holidays. Here’s the festive video to view, just for fun!
