details from our Christmas photo shoot

I’m back with part two of my behind the scenes look at Tuesday’s photo shoot with Cottages & Bungalows. As I mentioned yesterday, we had a little theme going with the décor, pretty tartan plaids and sweet holiday deer. Those two elements are just so classic and are absolute favorites of our homeowner Anne.

Brenda, Amy and Anne at the Christmas craft station

We had a really fun craft station set up in Anne’s quaint backyard, and friends Brenda and Amy stopped by to join in on the fun.

Little evergreen trees from Trader Joe’s were planted in clay pots with moss covering the soil and then embellished with velvet ribbon, an ornament and a glittery gift tag. These will make the perfect party favors for Anne’s guests this time of year.

Here I am stirring the hot cocoa in preparation for our shot. My little secret is I use chocolate milk instead of any powdery mix and just heat that up in a crock pot.

Additional dark chocolate can be added during the heating process for a richer cocoa. It’s delicious and so easy to prepare for Christmas!

Guest can just help themselves and garnish as they wish with extra marshmallows, peppermint stirrers and candy canes. You'll want to have lots of cute holiday mugs on hand, so while we're at it, why not just set up a cute hot cocoa station in the kitchen?  😉

A preview of our kitchen window shot... The little trees from the backyard craft look a bit like Charlie Brown trees here because of the back light, but I can assure you, they're nice and bushy.  🎄

Our favorite shot of the day was this one with Bodie the goldendoodle. He’s so cute! And speaking of cute, don’t you just love this Dutch door leading into the laundry room? You’ll get to see more of this mud room vignette in the December 2020 issue of Cottages & Bungalows.

For more Christmas inspiration, I'd love it if you'd check back with me here on the blog in the next day or two for some new Christmas tablescapes that I’m currently working on.

ciao! fabiana
