blue and white loveliness

With Spring now upon us, I had to stop by Roger’s Gardens here in Newport Beach to check out all the fun flowers, plants and succulents they have in for the season.  I was pleasantly surprised at their new and gorgeous displays of blue and white accessories!  Blue and white is always a classic color combination and can be incorporated in so many different styles of d├ęcor.

Of course,
their little boutiques within the store are always fun to visit,
and I sometimes pick up a few treasures here and there.
Here are a few of my favorite vignettes
that I came across during my visit.

spring is here!

We are welcoming Spring today and
loving these pretty flower arrangements using pussy willows.
Pussy willows always remind me of being a little girl!
So fun!

fun coastal inspired accessories

With all the electronics in our lives, it just might take a good old-fashioned bulletin board to get us organized. After searching for a good-looking, functional board without success, Gina Donald designed her own.

She started by selling them locally and now she has gone nationwide, including selling on One Kings Lane and District 17, as well as in exclusive boutiques. Her company LG Designs also makes personalized linen and burlap pillows.

These customized bulletin boards and pillows are works of art for your home and for your lifestyle. They also make personal and stylish gifts. I got a sneak peek at some of LG Designs' newest styles and they are perfect for getting in the mood for Summer!

Of course, you can create your own designs to fit your style. Just pick the fabric, your monogram, name or coastal con and then choose a frame or pillow size. It's so much fun! I just ordered my own custom bulletin board, and I'll show it to you in a few weeks when I get it!

is coffee really good for you?

“The latest study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute finds coffee may lower the risk for the most serious type of skin cancer, malignant melanoma. Prior research has shown coffee may help prevent other types of non-melanoma skin cancers.

However, this is the first large-scale study to look specifically at malignant melanoma, which is the fifth most common cancer in the U.S. and the leading cause of skin cancer deaths.”

“The researchers found that frequent coffee drinkers -- those who consumed four cups or more per day -- had a 20 percent lower risk for developing malignant melanoma than those who drank less coffee. The researchers also observed the protective benefits of coffee increased the more a person drank. Decaffeinated coffee did not provide the same protective benefits.

“While the results of this new study are encouraging for coffee drinkers, the authors say their findings are preliminary.  Previous studies have shown that regular coffee consumption may help reduce the risk of other serious conditions including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, depression, liver disease and even early death. The beverage's antioxidant properties have also long been associated with reducing the risk for other types of skin cancer.”

march 17th dinner setting

A little green brought to the table
to brighten up St. Patrick’s Day dinner.

I have a small collection of Scrabble letters
that I picked up at yard sales and thrift stores over the years.
They come in handy for table settings, holidays and crafts.

Place mats and napkins:  Kate Spade "Laurel Drive"
Bunny plate:  Home Goods
Bamboo Silverware:  World Market

The White Plates, Glass and scrabble tiles are vintage.
