beautiful coastal decor

There’s nothing quite like a house by the sea. Subtle coastal elements are my favorite things about a beautiful coastal home. Another prerequisite is rooms that are light, airy and relaxed.

It looks as though a beach inspired color palette of blue and greige interspersed with tons of natural textures and a clean white background is the common thread in all these homes… a perfect mixture of sophistication and laid-back confidence.

Even if you don’t live by the beach, you can infuse a bit of your favorite seaside looks into your home. Here are some of my favorite coastal rooms from this week…

what's your kitchen style?

Kitchens are such a personal space, and whether you like to cook or not, it’s ultimately the place where everyone likes to congregate. So today I’m wondering what your favorite kitchen style is. How would you describe your perfect kitchen?

I’m sharing some examples of a few interesting ones I found recently. This first one is Coastal Inspired. White cabinets, a hint of ocean blue, driftwood tones and beach glass inspired lighting are some of my favorite elements here.

Second, I love this Traditional Modern look. It has all the characteristics of a traditional style, but is streamlined, uncluttered and elegant.

This next style I’m labeling Eclectic Modern Farmhouse. It’s a little boho chic, with a little nod to kitchens from the past. Gathered vintage elements combined with modern amenities create a warm and cozy look.

The best of both worlds, Coastal Farmhouse style! This home would fit in perfectly near the beach or in the middle of a prairie, or for that matter, anywhere you wish! The vibe of this style is easy, breezy, comfortable.

This last style is hard to pinpoint with a name. Vintage Estate style is what I come up with. Picture a stately old home with amazing details and character, and then infuse modern luxuries. (This may be my favorite style!)

You can have the best of both worlds! And, oh that table! Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned eat-in kitchen?

So remember, let me know what your favorite kitchen style is. It may not be pictured here, but I’d love to know! xoxo

a backyard fire pit

Living in Southern California,
we usually have beautiful warm days,
but our nights are always cool.

So, it's almost an essential
to have an outdoor heat lamp
or fire element for outdoor entertaining.

Fire pits are becoming
more and more popular
and are a perfect gathering spot
for friends and family.
Here are a few of my favorites....

Here's our new fire pit....

We had it built between our
dining area
and pool lounging area.

The ceramic fish is vintage from Mexico
and the pillows are from Pottery Barn.

This is now the perfect spot for
family gatherings
and roasting marshmallows!

an adorable beach bungalow

Happy friday!

I know I’ve been MIA lately,
but I’ve just been working on a big project

So today I wanted to check in and share an adorable
vintage beach house that’s right here in Newport Beach
in the Peninsula Point neighborhood,

down by the beach.

Local designer Raili Clasen

does it again with her unique casual style of décor…

And what I’m really excited about is
Raili’s own home being featured on the

on Thursday!

I’m definitely going to share photos of
her home and others on the tour next week!

But for now,

let’s take in all this wonderful
California casual beach style!

super chic and easy coastal decor

We’re smack dab in the middle of summer, so I thought I’d bring you a fun little bit of coastal décor today! You may recognize Marnie Oursler from the DIY network show “Beach Builds”, and here she is in her own Bethany Beach, Delaware home.

This impressive 6,400 square foot home showcases some chic details like herringbone white oak floors and classic polished nickel lighting , but overall, it exemplifies easy, relaxed coastal living.
