a winter white tablescape

Hints of a winter wonderland are one of my favorite ways to honor the season we’re in right now.

Evergreen trees, a neutral palette and just a hint of holiday sparkle is my favorite look for January.

Welcome to the breakfast room where today I’m featuring lots of thrifted treasures and some of my favorite simple holiday decor items.

I recently put up these cozy curtains right before Thanksgiving to warm up the space during the colder months. I found these toile-like drapes on Amazon and I just have them on simple and easy to use swing-arm curtain rods.

They’re so easy to install and you have so much versatility with how much of the curtains you want to show, and curtains are easily changed out without removing any hardware.

I loved this pattern so much that I recently bought a pretty blue colorway of this same print for my living room. I'll share those soon!

The botanical print on these curtains features a pretty vining pattern with pomegranates, birds and even a few adorable hummingbirds!

And the fabric is perfect. It’s linen-like blend that has great texture and just the right amount of sheerness.

White eyelet placemats and napkins may feel like summer, but I love the little lacy quality they bring to this winter white table and give it a fun shabby chic look!

I found these two white cottage-shaped candles recently while out thrifting and I love how they glow in the center.

The chairs have a lovely, warm sheepskin throw on each seat adding to the coziness of this room and they do make you feel warmer on a cold January day like today.

White poinsettias are the flower of the day, and I love the nostalgic feel they bring to the room.

And even though Christmas is over, the white poinsettias still look good here nestled in their plain paper bags.

Do you spot the pretty clear goblets with the etched Christmas tree design? I found a set of 6 of those at my favorite thrift store just before the holidays and fell in love with them!

It wasn’t until I got home that I realized they were from Neiman-Marcus! They are truly soooo elegant, and I just love the statement they make here with the small evergreen trees in the room and the muted bottlebrush trees on the table.

The little sprigs of greenery on my chandelier are actually little evergreen wreaths that are sold as napkin rings. They’re the perfect size for the individual candlesticks of the chandelier.

The chunky chargers, also shown here, are from Antique Farmhouse. I added the dainty round eyelet placemats on top to soften the look.

The eyelet placemats and matching napkins are from Shabby Chic, and I found them both at Marshall’s!

Here’s the same room and table with a few little changes but still maintaining the beauty of winter white.

Here’s a tip for showcasing the poinsettias with a fun farmhouse cottage look… It's as simple as just popping them in a paper bag, cutting the bag to size, and tying with a pretty ribbon. No pots or baskets needed!!

Armstrong Garden always has the best selection of poinsettias in the most unusual colors!

In case you haven’t heard, I started a new
Instagram page in October and named it Claudia Fabiana Home. My former page is still up, but after getting a new phone, I was no longer able to log into this account, so the new profile was born!

I hope you’ll follow along with me on Instagram for all the latest projects and décor I will be sharing in 2025.

christmas with antique farm house

🎄Welcome to the English Cottage Christmas event

 with Antique Farmhouse!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at my home, and with the help of Antique Farm House. I’ve created a very nostalgic and comfy look for my family.

This is the perfect time to bring those same vintage, cozy vibes into your own home this holiday season.

Let’s create the most memorable Christmas together!

There are so many festive pieces featured in this English Cottage Christmas event, that I couldn’t fit them all in my reel.

There’s nothing quite like the wonder of Christmas morning. All the anticipation, excitement and joy! All the feelings you’ve had of Christmases past come rushing back!

Sentimental at times, but there is a sense of hope as well.

Nothing can match the sight of your glowing tree at sunrise, the smell of bacon emanating from the kitchen, tiny footsteps coming down the stairs, and the gasps and giggles heard at the sight of all the gifts under the tree…

all those dear early morning Christmas memories truly live in my heart!

🎄The inspiration for my tree was the beauty of nature done in a fanciful way. I imagined an enchanted forest where Father Christmas lives in a charming little stone cottage, definitely another time and place!

I started with a new 6’ Noble fir from King of Christmas and added my own white lights. Owls, nesting birds, deer, little red toadstools, and lots of little pinecones.

Of course, we have to bring in the sparkle with lots of vintage glass ornaments and baubles! This little tree is finished off with just a touch of old-fashioned tinsel for all the nostalgic reasons I can think of!

What a difference a month makes! Here’s our antique hutch all decked out for Christmas.

Here’s my festive hot cocoa bar! This look is as simple as setting out some cute mugs, a cozy plaid throw and a fun little electric kettle!

Add some instant hot chocolate mix, a few marshmallows and maybe a candy cane or two! No need to fuss. Keep it simple, my friends!

Here's a fun little plaid table that has all the vibrant holiday colors and textures I love!

So, friends, I’ll see you in my stories soon, where I’ll give you some up close and personal looks at some of my favorite items, and I’ll also be sharing a BONUS tablescape using so many ofthese same Antique Farmhouse pieces set up in a whole new way!

Happy Christmas! ♥️

easy Christmas projects and recipes

I’ve been contributing to Country Sampler Farmhouse Style for more than 6 years now, and today I want to share some of my favorite Christmas projects and super yummy recipes with you.

First up is this hot cocoa bar that was in the 2023 Winter issue. I wanted to create a sort of campfire vibe for this shelf in my kitchen. I gathered several vintage spice tins and plaid accessories as the start to this whole look.

My secret to delicious and easy hot cocoa is to just buy your favorite carton of chocolate milk and then keep in nice and warm in a small crockpot or “slow cooker” as they now call them.

If you don’t have the room or the budget for even a small Christmas tree, then this project is for you! It starts with a fun vintage crock, but any similarly shaped container would work.

The secret is to add a little pyramid shaped piece of floral foam, the wet kind, to the crock. Water it, and then add small little branches and cuttings of foraged evergreens and winter berries. I like to start at the top with a strong leader branch and then fill it in from there.

Covering a small crate with festive plaid wrapping paper is another fun project. I decided to create a little farmhouse winter scene in mine, complete with a cheery red barn and lots of bottle brush trees. A little moss around the bottom of the landscape finishes off this idyllic scene.

Now for a couple of non-Christmas projects… they both involve thrifted treasures. The first one is a little lamp made from a small ironstone pitcher.

The bottom of this lamp is actually a spare metal chandelier medallion that I had on hand in the garage. It was the perfect size for the base of the lamp. I bought a lamp kit online and put this little beauty together. The shade was an extra little chandelier shade I had left over from another project.

During the pandemic, I found a whole box of Fiestaware on the curb that someone had set out for free. I took a long wooden board and decided to glue the cups and saucers on the board for a fun and colorful utensil holder.

A few little “s” hooks do the trick for holding whisks, wooden spoons and other kitchen gadgets.

I'm currently working on four more projects for the Autumn 2025 issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style, and then we head straight back into some winter and Christmas projects and more recipes for 2025.

What a surprise it was to have my picture selected for the Winter 2024 issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style...

Did you read this one? I have several projects and recipes in this one too! I’ll share those with you all in a few weeks’ time.

farmhouse style magazine winter 2024

4 of my projects featured this season

December is off to an inspiring start with the brand-new Winter issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style in stores stores now. And I have a little preview for you!

Here's a behind the scenes look of how new cover of Farmhouse Style came together with just a few simple ideas. I was truly caught by surprise when my picture was selected to be on the cover of this Winter 2024 issue!

Just a few festive touches and vintage finds help to create this simple but unique look that is featured on the cover. You can try this at home! It's as easy as it looks!! See the video here.

Lisa Sloan is the new editor of Farmhouse Style now taking over from Susan Wagner, and I love reading the Lisa’s notes from each and every issue.

It’s the most helpful companion to this magazine and helps me to make sure I don’t miss a thing in this jam-packed holiday issue.

Cover photo

Here's the photo I submitted for an article called “Homes for the Holidays.” It’s a playful and pretty look at small-scale houses that can create imaginative and festive scenes in miniature. You can check out all the projects starting on page 6.

You can see some of the examples of tiny Christmas houses here.

Check out this video HERE as I explain and recreate the cover shot in my new “dish room”.

For this winter 2024 issue, I have 6 projects and 2 recipes featured and I can’t wait to show them to you! As a contributor to this magazine for the last 6 years or so, my projects and recipes are usually featured in the “Do-It-Yourself Farmhouse” section.

Isn’t this a fun project?! It’s so easy to make these Santa Sacks with a pretty but slightly damaged vintage tablecloth. Tablecloths are such a great source of fabric for so many projects!

A collection of festive vintage cans and tins are the perfect vessels for planting herbs during the holidays.

They certainly do brighten up a sunny window and come in handy for using in all sorts of holiday recipes.

Here are the two vintage inspired ornaments I made for Farmhouse Style magazine. The first are a set of real walnut shells filled with a bit of moss and festive little red toadstool, or mushroom.

I finished them off with a little bakers twine in a fun red and white twisted pattern for easy an display from a Christmas tree branch.

Secondly, I sewed little burlap hearts with a velvet needlepoint thread and then embellished them with a tiny jingle bell.

I think they add the old-fashioned farmhouse charm to any tree. Don't you just love handmade Christmas ornaments? They add something so special to the tree.

An advent calendar made from a set of mismatched (but very coordinated) handmade felt stockings is another one of my projects that’s featured in this winter issue.

I chose a select color palette of felt pieces and stuck to those colors for every little stocking. I also used vintage rickrack, in dark red and white on a few of these guys!

Wouldn’t they also look cute as ornaments on the tree?

Two showstopping desserts I made are also featured in this issue starting on page 108. I had never made a Kransekake or a Pavlova before, but I’m always up for any challenge, and they proved to be worth every drop of sugar and egg whites to make these 2 beauties!

A Krasekake is a traditional Norwegian dessert translating to “wreath cake” and features 18 stacking rings of different sizes. It truly is breathtaking and soooo very delicious!

This Pavlova is a light meringue and fruit dessert that’s out of this world, and is even topped off with a yogurt and cream mixture for an even greater contrast in flavors and textures.

A variety of fresh berries and mint sprigs give this luscious dessert all its character and good looks… it’s a Christmas showstopper, for sure!!
