the most beautiful spring tables

Now that Spring has arrived in all its glory, I’m excited to share several new table linens and other goodies with you that have that perfect spring look.

 

First of all, who can take their eyes off these beautiful new prints from Pacific & Rose? 

We're so happy to introduce the Lilibet print in two new colors and the Pomegranate print in a lovely blue and white pairing...

Lilibet Blue Crush

With Easter, Passover and Mother’s Day coming up, it’s a lovely idea to set a beautiful table to enjoy with friends and family. If the weather’s nice, set an alfresco table to enjoy the outdoors for dining and entertaining.

During the spring of 2020, my husband and I set up a little area of our backyard in the style of our favorite local French café. We added vintage shutter doors for ambiance and planted Boston ivy to grow up the walls.

 

Lilibet Cornflower

This is another one of my favorite spots to dine in the backyard. Here we have the backdrop of the shed wall that I’ve decorated with a display of blue and white transferware plates. I love how the vines intermingle with the thrifted plates. 

The plates have been out here for over 4 years, and have held up perfectly.

The tablecloth and napkins seen here are Lilibet Cornflower. I love how they look with the blue and white porcelain accents. A few stock flowers from the market add a dose of the garden to the table.

Indoors in the breakfast room, I combined the Pomegranate Blue tablecloth with the Lilibet Cornflower napkins. 

This is my favorite combination! The mixing and matching of these linens work really well considering the colors are all so harmonious.

Here's another look for the breakfast room showcasing the Lilibet Blue Crush table runner, placemats and napkins and a big bunch of scented geraniums from the front yard.

That same basket of scented geraniums works well with the Pomegranate Blue runner and the backdrop of the plate wall.

While seated, you can see our little French café area off in the distance. It feels so cozy sitting here.

Take a look at the details of the napkins and placemats with the runner. These are all entirely hand-printed in India, so each piece has a subtle, unique and very beautiful look to it.

 

Pomegranate Blue  

Combining bamboo cutlery works really well with this type of hand-blocked textile. To highlight the plates against the fabrics, raffia placemats do the trick and offer another textural element to the table.

 

Lilibet Cornflower  

Here’s a slightly different styling at the center of the table. The colors in this vintage Amaretti tin really harmonize well with this Lilibet print.

This would be a pretty look for Mother’s Day or a bridal shower. I’ll be doing a blog post soon on how to style flowers with vintage food tins. I think you’ll really enjoy it!

Pomegranate Blue  

Take a look at how easy it is to dress up your table for spring. All it takes is a beautiful tablecloth and a basket of flowers.

 

Kitchen Towels

In addition to the table linens, Pacific & Rose offers several other beautiful items in the Lilibet and Pomegranate prints. Gorgeous tea towels are always a bright ray of sunshine in any kitchen.

These are my two favorite ways to wear the pareo, but there are literally dozens of ways to style them on ourselves. They even look great as a scarf for a chilly night out on the town.

secondhand tables for spring

a tour of thrifted tablescapes  

Easter is just about a week away, so I thought I’d share another spring tablescape today, and luckily my friends and I from the “Secondhand Table” group have put together a few fresh new table settings to share with all of you!

Keep in mind that these tables are all set with things that have been found at thrift stores or flea markets, and we use fresh accents that we foraged from our gardens or maybe from a friend’s yard.  

The point is nothing is new at these tables. As we are spending more and more time at home, it’s sort of fun to go through the cupboards and discover things we may have forgotten about. 

Here's a little bit about my table...

The majority of this table has a soft blue and white color scheme that acts as sort of a neutral, like denim. I started with a striped blue table runner to add a little pattern to the table. 

For texture I used my favorite set of seashell trimmed placemats and then layered a dinner plate and a salad plate at each setting. The patterns are compatible, but not matchy-matchy. I feel like mixing china patterns adds so much interest to a table. 

Light blue glassware is added in just the right shade of blue. Vintage colored glasses are my secret weapon, lol. They always add just the right sparkle to a table!

The dainty linen napkins and ceramic napkin rings were found last year at our church's annual rummage sale.

I can hardly believe it myself, but all these flowers are from my garden. Luckily here in Southern California, we can garden year-round, and these ranunculus were the best surprise this spring! 

I planted them last year, and they bloomed, but I kind of forgot about them, and they kind of doubled in quantity this year, so YAY!  

The yellow flowers on the lower right are roses that I also planted last year. It’s actually a Downton Abbey rose called Edith’s Darling and is one of two Downton Abbey roses in my garden. I love the clustered shape of this one! 

To finish off the look of this bouquet, I added a bit of blue borage, a pretty herb that just easily reseeds itself in my garden. Best of all, the little blue flowers are edible and taste like cucumbers. This glass vase with woven wicker detail acts like a modern-day Easter basket, and I just love it! 

This close-up of the plates shows how all the patterns play off of each other. I’ve also added this little bread and butter plates to the table which pick up the colors in the flowers. 

These little plates are actually blue and white transferware, but at the time of firing, they also go in and hand-color some of the pattern to create this look. I picked these up last summer in Savannah at a Goodwill Store along with some matching cups and saucers.   

Little white hobnail votives are added for charm. 

I've had these for several years, and they were gifted to me by Oriental Trading when I did a few tablescapes for them. I've used them a lot, and they are still available here, if you're interested. 

I just love these colors!
