my latest gardening obsession

A pretty tablescape from the book Kitchen Garden Revival

Since February, I’ve been spending more and more time in the garden. I even dug out some metal planting beds from the shed that I bought online a few years ago, and my hubby and I set them up out by the pool to grow some veggies.

It seems like I’m not the only one during this “staying at home” time to reach out to Mother Earth and start growing my own food.

More people are starting to pursue gardening every day. I totally want to grow vegetables in a way that better fits my landscape and matches with the cottage style garden I already have going in my yard.

So, I was thrilled to pieces to discover this new book on kitchen gardening called Kitchen Garden Revival by Nicole Johnsey Burke. It’s guided me through every aspect of kitchen gardening, from designing to harvesting.

Here’s some inspiration from the book...

Kitchen gardening is part of the “grow-your-own movement”, and its tailored approach fits well into modern landscapes and is much easier to take care of than in-ground vegetable gardens.

Instead of row after row of plants in the middle of the yard, kitchen gardens are attractive food gardens with easy-to-maintain raised planting beds laid out in an organized geometric pattern.

With four seasons of ornamental interest and plenty of fresh, homegrown fruits, vegetables, and herbs, kitchen gardens are the way to grow your own food in a fashionable, modern, and practical way.

Kitchen Garden Revival is as an amazing step-by-step guide to designing, planting, tending, and harvesting a modern kitchen garden, with plant lists, DIY ideas, and seasonal care instructions.

I really love the lush, full-color photographs of dozens of designed and productive kitchen gardens to draw inspiration from.
