falling for pumpkins

It's nearly October, my favorite month and that's really got me pumped! Yes, from now until Halloween it's going to be pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins!

Don't worry, I'll share other stuff too, but for now I'm slightly obsessed. I do love the little white pumpkins because they're so easy to add to just about any look.

The floral above is from Bouquet Box. I arranged these flowers last week and they're still going strong and smell amazing! The only flowers that didn't last were the three red poppies, but that to be expected.

Wild and unruly pinky lavender Japanese anemones from the garden fill this newly found vintage ironstone pitcher. A little bit of brown transferware is always a favorite look for fall.

I look forward to these autumn blooming Japanese Anemones all year long, and they're just going wild in the back garden.

Cute little pumpkins are a must in just about every room.

I tend to love the more muted colors for fall and add a pop of color with the mums. I’ll share details of this beautiful fringed throw soon. It isn’t officially released until October.

Fall table setting can be so easy if you have the right seasonal accents. Believe it or not, all these little pumpkins and gourds are real, and I just purchased them this weekend at Armstrong's Garden Center

A wooden cake pedestal works perfectly as the base. I then layered in some interesting pumpkins and gourds, softened the look with a few Heavenly Bamboo leaf cuttings from the garden, and for a whimsical touch nestled a few mums in between everything. Cheery and fun for our weeknight dinners!

The secret is to mix in some simple tableware for an effortless look.

Today’s dining room mood… I can’t get enough of these peachy-orange Cinderella pumpkins mixed in with the beautiful white pumpkins and green-tinged gourds. The colors are so soft and ethereal, and such a great alternative to traditional bright orange pumpkins.

Late afternoon in the breakfast room... the September sun dazzles like no other! I've paired my chunky linen runner with a whole assortment of new pumpkins.

I recently found 3 huge boxes of vintage candles at a yard sale, and much to my surprise, there were several orange beeswax candles... so perfect here.

Patterned napkins from August Table are the perfect backdrop for the little white "Baby Boo" pumpkins at each place setting, and the amber goblets glow in the September sunlight.

That’s not all… I’m working on several other new fall and year-round tablescapes this week, and I can’t wait to share them with you all.

In fact, I’ve got some more new vintage glassware to style with along with lots of pretty tablecloths and napkins. I hope you’ll check back in with me soon!

my black and white halloween table

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year, so why not go all out and throw an elegant dinner party for a few of my friends? Setting the table is so fun for me. It’s like playing dress-up!

The first thing I wanted were a few foundation pieces for the table. I knew I wanted a black and white color scheme with no scary elements and no orange.

Black and white stripes are so elegant, and I found a really nice long cotton Striped Runner, perfect!

I also got a set of Spooky Bird SpindlesFeather Place Card Holders, and Black Patterned Wine Glasses to get me started with my table.

I was inspired by nature for my table, so spooky birds, white pumpkins and a little greenery set the tone for this tablescape

My black and white transferware plates, raffia place mats, and black chalk-painted chargers look great together for each place setting. I used vintage silver and white damask napkins to add another elegant touch.

The silver-toned feather place card holders have whimsical bat-shaped place cards. And the black wine glasses pull the whole look together!

To change things up a little, I set the heads of the table with a fun little white pumpkin and the others get a pretty ivory and gold pumpkin-shaped dish, as an accent.

For the center of the table, I gathered some subtly colored white pumpkins on a glass cake stand, and added glass votives, greenery from my garden and a spooky owl and crow

I set up a little drink station on my sideboard with the Spooky Birds as the anchors of the space and to add a little drama. A black feather wreath I usually hang on the front door gets a new home here over the vintage mirror.

It fits in nicely with the décor.

 Close-up of the centerpiece, above.

When you start with a few foundation pieces,
this look is soooo easy to put together.

And it came together like this...

Black and White transferware plates
raffia place mats
black charger plates
Black and White Striped Runner
ivory and gold pumpkin-shaped dish
Spooky Bird Spindles
Feather Place Card Holders
bat-shaped place cards
 Black Patterned Wine Glasses
“Bone Appetit” rectagular platter
black feather wreath
white pumpkins
 glass cake stand
 glass votives
Spooky Birds
 spooky owl and crow

💕

While I’m here today, I wanted to share some of my "Tablescaping Essentials" with you. I have a whole page on the Amazon website with my favorite picks for setting a beautiful table.

Quite often time is of the essence, and I have last minute projects or events to work on, so I turn to Amazon for one or two day delivery. You’d be surprised at how many amazing items they have to offer! And I'm constantly updating this page with my new favorites.

You can check it out here, at Tablescaping Essentials.

the pumpkins are here!

Much to my surprise, the pumpkins are already in at Trader Joe’s! Over the weekend I stopped in to grab a few groceries and a selection of flowers for my fall inspired table, and while I was there, I was happy to run into boxes and boxes of Cinderella Pumpkins and Baby Boos, my absolute favorites!!

You see, my table was all set with one of favorite fall plaid throws from Pottery Barn and some new little pumpkin plates I recently found at Home Goods. All that was left to do was make a bouquet for the center of the table.

So now, not only do I have my pretty flowers for the table, but also a small little grouping of these adorable little white “Baby Boo” pumpkins. And they're quite a deal at only 69 cents apiece!

Scrabble tiles I’ve collected from estate sales and thrift stores are fun to use to create a holiday message or spell out names for each place setting.

The focus of the table revolves around the darling pumpkin plates I picked up at Home Goods. This is actually an individual plate that came with a cheese knife, and I bought a few to use at the table this year .

They do sell sets of four pumpkin plates from time to time, and you have to grab those quickly when you spot them because they sell out fast! For this table, I'm using these pumpkins as salad plates, and I've got my trusty ivory Wedgwood plates as a base, and of course to serve as the dinner plates!

A textured placemat is a perfect buffer for the plates and the plaid throw, and I like how it defines each place setting and gives it more of a presence.

A thrifted white pitcher from Crate & Barrel serves as a festive vase for this collection of flowers. Soft orange dahlias and peachy white roses repeat a bit of the autumn colors from the plaid, and silver dollar eucalyptus softens this whole look.

A scattering of the mini white pumpkins adds a little fun to the table.

I found this “Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice” pillow three years ago on Amazon, and it’s still available here. It usually sits on a chair on my front porch, and has weathered the outdoor conditions well. It still looks brand new!

I love these Fitz and Floyd goblets so much, and I use them a lot during the fall. You can spot them in lots of my previous tablescapes. I also have them in blue and they come in lots of other fun colors too. The amber color is not available at the moment, but here's another similar look.

Bamboo flatware add the perfect amount of fall flair to the table.

Besides the flowers, I brought in just a touch of color with these sweet and
classic Mayberry napkins by Serena & Lily in the color Papaya.

They offer the perfect touch of orangey-red that I love for fall.

It’s fun to mix up the flower selection and go with something different.

I know autumn is not officially here, but for some, September ushers in the fall season so "HAPPY FALL" to you all! And please check back soon as I set another fun fall table using plaid and more pumpkin plates. Here’s a peek...
