5 exclusive handmade ornaments for you

Hi friends! Today I have a really special post for you. For the first time ever, I will be offering several of my one-of-a-kind holiday ornaments and garlands for purchase for your own private collection!

Since 2018 I’ve been a contributor to Country Sampler Farmhouse Style, and it’s been so much fun working on DIY projects, recipes, home décor ideas, tablescapes and garden projects.

Many of you have asked about these fun Christmas decorations, and now I’ve put together 5 of the latest magazine projects that are now available on eBay for purchase.

The first one is this “Let It Snow” Garland I created out of vintage tart tins, scrabble letters, and toy blocks.

Did you spot the “Let It Snow” Garland when it appeared in the 2021 Christmas issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style magazine?

Here it is displayed on a vintage mirror in my dining room, but I think it would also be pretty in a window or on a small mantel. It adds the perfect festive touch to any room!

Another garland I created was this take on an old-fashioned paper chain. I used three different burlap ribbons to put this together and it adds a soft neutral element to any farmhouse style home.

This is how I photographed it and how it appeared in the same issue as the “Let It Snow” garland.

I simply draped it along my family room mantel, and then added complimentary evergreen and eucalyptus branches to the top of the mantel.

The 2021 Winter issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style magazine included two really fun and whimsical ornament projects.

This first ornament project is my favorite, and I spent a lot of time on creating these.

They are little tart tins of different shapes, filled with a little snowy scene each that included a tiny vintage deer, small bottle brush tree and a little bit of snow.

With the addition of a background made with French book pages, I think these ornaments are one for the ages... Classic old-fashioned Christmas ornaments that will really stand out on any Christmas tree.

You can spot them above, on page 94 of this issue?

These adorable stocking shaped ornaments were inspired by this pretty musical themed paper I found.

They are stitched up with red thread, trimmed with gingham ribbon, vintage buttons and a touch of glitter.

So fun for any tree!

I’m also including a brand-new garland project that is in the current Winter 2022 issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style magazine.

This is a hand-made 3-D star garland made from vintage book pages. Dozens and dozens of star shapes were cut out and then sewn together to create this spectacular garland.

This one measures 100” long, so it would look great draped along a mantel, a lovely window or over your dining room table.

Remember, these are all one-of-a-kind pieces that were made to inspired hundreds of Farmhouse Style readers!

how to style vintage tins with flowers

One of my favorite and whimsical ways to style flowers is with colorful cans! These fun tin treasures add a charming “pop art” look to any floral arrangement.

This Amaretti tin is my latest find on Ebay, and I filled it with forget-me-nots from the garden. The scented geraniums are blooming right now in the front yard in a delicious cloud of pink, and I could resist gathering a big bunch to add a little cottage charm to the table.

A vintage Butter Wafer tin make a fun container for this lovely bunch of pink cottage roses from Trader Joe’s. Gather them in a tight bunch, secure with wire or floral tape, trim to desired length and place in the water-filled cookie tin.

Tones of green, yellow, ivory and white flowers harmonize nicely with this collection of flea-market tea tins.

The nasturtium are a variety called Peach Melba that I grow in my garden, and I picked up the daffodils at Whole Foods Market, and they smell divine!

They certainly brighten up this part of the living room, and add a dose of sunshine, even on the cloudiest of days.

This table centerpiece appeared in a 2021 issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style. I used only vintage coffee tins, filled with real flowers that I picked up at the market.

The main theme for this look was picking up the color red from the striped napkins and working it in with the lovely yellow blooms of the roses and chamomile.

Keep your eyes open while grocery shopping for graphic designs on cans that instantly grab your attention. White daisies are just the right kind of cottage flower to fill these inexpensive containers for an effortless look.

This is a close up form a photo shoot I styled in Laguna Beach for Cottages and Bungalows magazine

This colorful look is from a Cinco de Mayo gathering I did way back in 2017. Look for cans that have the graphics printed right on them. There are many Mexican foods that have lovely artwork on their tins.

I love this inspiration found on pinterest. The Honey label is so pretty!

Even though the flowers don’t match the colors of this can, I still love this look, also from pinterest.

Flea markets and eBay are great places to find vintage cans. Grocery stores also have wonderful tin options for styling flowers, houseplants and even cactus varieties.

My collection of vintage tins is slowly growing, so you may see a few more flowery scenes like these from me very soon!

a little corner of the living room

Decorating, collecting, and thrifting are all intertwined with how I put together my rooms here are home.

This little corner of the living room is just a snippet from my adventures with the “thrill of the hunt”.

If you’re a thrift store fan like me, then you’ll get it.

Here are a few notes on how these pieces made their way into my life… happy Sunday!

pumpkins galore

September means the start of pumpkin season, and this week I’m on the prowl for the most beautiful pumpkins to last me the whole season, through to Thanksgiving.

I really love the pale clay-colored ones mixed in with white, blue, gray, and green pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. Roger’s Gardens always has a great selection, and I’m not sure if they have any yet, but I’m headed there to find out.

Pumpkins are fun in just about every room, like the dining room…

and the breakfast room...

And even the sunroom!

Here’s last year’s family room mantel, styled simply with a few of my favorite pumpkins and sprigs of eucalyptus.

This is the same mantel, but style exclusively for Country Sampler Farmhouse Style. I think I shot this last November, and you can check it out in the most current issue on page 97.

This vignette is also featured in the Autumn issue of CSFS, on page 8. Here I’ve used pumpkins that are truer in color, but still have a more unique shape. I love the long stems on the little pumpkins!

And speaking of little pumpkins, aren’t these sweet? This was a really fun table to set using Fete Home’s lovely napkins, tablecloth and bone napkin rings.

In fact, I recently listed these exact napkin rings on our Ebay Blog Shop. It’ll be hard to part with these beauties, but I’m literally running out of drawer and cabinet space. You can check them out HERE, for a song!

For me this is a fun way to share some of my favorite tablescaping goodies with all of you!

There are also a few napkins and tea towels available. In fact, these “LOVE” towels are so cute used as oversized napkins for any occasion. Check them out HERE and then visit our napkin section of the Blog Shop. We will be listing more later this week, so please check back.

It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas, and I have these gorgeous Vagabond House items listed that make the most gorgeous presents or striking statement in your own home.

Again, it’s heartbreaking to let these treasures go, but space is really limited around here.

Little brass reindeer are just such a cute accent, and you can see here how I used them to style a Christmas Morning Table that appeared in Cottages & Bungalows magazine a couple years back.

It’s perfectly alright to mix metals like silver and gold, especially during the holidays. These little guys are actually place card holders, but they look right at home just among the greenery and faux snow at the center of the table.

Christmas will be here before we know it, so I should really focus on fall. As I sit here finishing this post, I’m so grateful you’re here to share it with me.

I’m now headed to Corona del Mar to see if Roger’s is loaded with pumpkins yet. I need to pick up some fall tomato plants anyways, so hopefully, there will be pumpkins galore!
