Welcome to the latest installment of Project Design where six of us are sharing our "uplifting spring tablescapes". These are all tables set with things we already had at home in our kitchens and gardens. We chose to set tables that can inspire you during this time of staying at home.
The inspiration for my table started with these dark indigo blue and white salad plates with little birds on them. Birds singing in the garden is a sure sign of spring, so little song birds ended up being the common link throughout this table.
Setting the salad plates on a soft blue dinner plate enhanced the spring look of the table. These versatile dinner plates are from Target, and I just love the color!
From there I picked my glassware. As you may know, I have a “thing” for vintage colored glassware, and this set is one of my favorites because it does have a slightly modern vibe to it.
I grounded the whole look of the table with napkins and placemats from Serena & Lily. I use these a lot in my tablecapes, and they truly are classics for my table settings.
These gingham napkins have a very dark navy blue pattern which matches the salad plates perfectly, and the round raffia placemats add the much-needed texture that I love to add to all my tables. My trusty bamboo flatware finishes off the look and also adds a pop of texture.
For the center of the table, I kept in simple and low to create a more intimate look. I grabbed a few little vintage crocks off my kitchen shelf and filled them with lovely chartreuse colored hellebores from my garden. I love the contrast of the yellowy-green with the dark blue!
A lovely and dainty candelabra sits right in the center of the table and features another darling little feathered friend. I also scattered a couple of ceramic song birds around the table, picked up from other corners of my home.
All-in-all this look came together quickly with things I already had at home. Nothing was purchased for this table. And I’ll let you in on a little secret....
I have another spring tablescape to share tomorrow with my friends from the “Secondhand Table” group. We put together table settings with things that have been found at thrift stores, flea markets and we use fresh accents that we foraged from our gardens.
Now back to this table...
Isn’t this candelabra darling? It’s solid pewter and quite an heirloom piece for future generations. It’s also perfect enough to mix and match with plain pewter or silver candlesticks.
This is a family table set simply, but with a few fresh spring touches and a few unexpected elements. The color scheme is unexpected, and I feel the little birds add a bit of quirkiness that's always fun to see at a table.
A high-low kind of table is my favorite kind! Newer elements from Serena & Lily and Vagabond House contrast nicely with vintage pieces from flea markets, thrift stores or found on sale at Target.

I love the idea of using decorative salad plates. They are a small investment and have such great impact. Those blue and white ones are to die for. You always do such a great job with your tablescapes...so pretty! Thanks for joining us again!

So pretty Claudia - just love the blues and the bird theme is perfect for spring! And the glasses are adorable! I've been wanting to get some colored glasses but they're hard to find so I'm going to check those out!
