unique outdoor lighting

When designing a functional outdoor space for evening entertaining, lighting is a key component. Lighting not only is functional, but can set the perfect mood for your alfresco gatherings. If you don’t have the right electrical connections, getting creative is the solution.

Make or purchase a large grapevine or twig wreath and wrap outdoor string lights to it. Use wire to hang from an overhanging tree branch or pergola. This way you can plug it into an outlet that is nearby. This creates a whimsical chandelier for your table!

A secluded area of your patio is the perfect spot for a candle-lit lighting fixture. You could even use battery powered candles for this option. Scatter a few votive candles on the table to add more ambiance.

Lanterns hung with pretty decorative iron brackets are a great idea for a wall adjacent to your table or seating area.

Moroccan glass lanterns come in the most gorgeous jewel tones and can really add romance and character to any style of décor.

kitchens with a pop

I personally love an understated, classic and neutral kitchen, and I especially love the idea of adding high impact accessories as my mood may dictate.  Here are some of my favorite ways to add a pop of color…

1. Amazing industrial pendant lights in your favorite color.

2. Bright and cheery bar stools or chairs.
These are easy to spray paint if
you get inspired by another color!

3. Fresh fruit and flowers
add so much life to an all white kitchen.

4. And lastly, zhush up your kitchen by coordinating
gorgeous flowers with your hand towels, wow
You can't beat this look!

jessica alba at home

The newest issue of BHG beautiful features the beautiful Jessica Alba on the cover, and inside, she opens up a few rooms of her home to share with us all.  I love her fun style and organic mix of patterns and textures.  I also found a few photos from Domino of Jessica’s daughters’ bedrooms for you all to see.

The simple backgrounds and mix of bold patterns in the sitting area of Jessica's master bedroom are amazing, as is that natural, chunky wood coffee table.

A vintage brass dresser and adorable heart-shaped bulletin boards complement each other in her daughter’s room.

This whimsical desk space would make any little girl feel a bit grown-up, but the whole vibe is so playful!

This beautiful etagere brings in more elegant brass into the room, and the cute bunny ears make this room so much fun !

So gorgeous!  Can you spot another bunny?

I just love all the brass accents that she
has incorporated throughout her home.
Tell me what you love most!

tablescape bargain of the day

When setting a table for family and friends, I always love an element of fun or surprise. And that’s what I love about these pretty blue glasses that I found at the dollar tree for only a dollar each! An interesting drinking glass can add color, sparkle and makes it easier to coordinate plates and napkins.

This color blue can bring it all together so easily! At this price, I stocked up and I even got a few in pink and green as well. They'll come in handy this spring and summer!!

soft and pretty paint colors

Pretty colors in soft creams and buttery yellows are the perfect match for freshening up your home for the upcoming spring months.

This fresh, neutral palette is looks
amazing in this light-filled room.

Creams, yellows and grays are a subtle combination.

Spruce up a hand-me-down piece in a fun shade of yellow!

Bring in a little or a lot of yellow into your kitchen.
It's a great way to start your day!

after Christmas mantel refresh

I'm finally getting to styling my family room mantel after we refreshed the brick with a new coat of white paint. I love how crisp and clean it now looks! We also moved a sunburst mirror from our bedroom to above the mantel for a new vibe.

Some of my favorite things were pulled together like the little brass Eiffel towers, some old books and some vintage blue and white accessories. One of my favorite pieces is the small bust of a woman with a blue and white porcelain bodice. I found her years ago and she’s still one of my faves. I dressed her up a bit with some sea glass beads that I got at Mermade

The Eiffel towers were purchased on ebay last year.  Since flowers are scarce right now in my garden, I treated myself to some pretty roses. Trader Joe’s has a nice selection and won’t break the bank!  A little reward for me, just because!
