downton and disneyland

Two of my favorite worlds collided last weekend when Downton Abbey darlings, Michelle Dockery and Laura Carmichael popped in to Disneyland. Here they are posing with Goofy.

Oh boy, how I wish I could have run into them that day!

It looks like cute Michelle wore her Mickey ears all day long! Here she is enjoying a snack with actor Michael Fox. Do you remember him as Andrew the footman on Downton?

Well, he and Laura Carmichael aka Lady Edith have been dating for a while now. How sweet!

Cheers!

disneyland favorites

Yesterday started off as a rainy and chilly day, and we had planned to go to Disneyland, so we did, thinking it wouldn’t be very crowded. Well it was packed! Luckily the rain did stop, but we ended up going on only a few rides due to long lines and closed attractions.

After riding Pirates of the Caribbean with the family, I took the opportunity to let the kids go on their favorite rides while I took in some of the scenery. Sleeping Beauty's castle is the iconic Disneyland landmark, and it's fun to walk through the narrow passages and see clips of the movie. The details inside and out are brilliant!

Disneyland’s garden spaces are theme-based and it’s fun to see this creative side of the park. These lettuces and citrus trees look amazing in the shadow of Tomorrowland. I love colors of each row of veggies!

For an authentic Mexican meal, we stopped in at Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante and had street tacos, enchiladas and tamales. So good! The architecture is fun to look at and the tiled windows, niches and succulents are inspiring!

Walking down Main Street really does transport me (in my heart and soul) to an earlier decade. The shops, signage and quaint restaurants are beautifully detailed. The huge tree at one end is amazing, especially at night with all the gorgeous holiday lights twinkling!

But, my favorite spot of all is New Orleans Square. It looks like they’re already getting ready for Mardi Gras! With the gumbo, beignets and Dixieland bands, it the next best thing to the big easy!

do something amazing today!

disneyland: dia de los muertos

Going to Disneyland the day after Halloween has become a tradition for my son and me, and we usually end up meeting a few of our friends there, since it’s a no school day here in NB. November 1st is also “Día de los Muertos”, so we were in for an extra special Disney version of this holiday.

Día de los Muertos is an annual Mexican celebration that remembers loved ones that have passed, while embracing an eternal connection. The colorful tribute is located in Frontierland right next to the Rancho del Zocalo Restaurant.

Another HUGE attraction yesterday was the Haunted Mansion. Right now the Haunted Mansion is in holiday mode, which means Jack Skellington, from Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas hosts an extra special version of this Disneyalnd classic.

More Mexican holiday decor from Frontierland...

This cafe in New Orlean's Square is one of my favorite spots.
They've even got some Christmas decorations up!

The entrance of the park looked great too!

Our last ride of the day was floating through Storybook Land on a little canal boat. It’s a special little tour of miniature versions the adorable homes and villages from classic Disney movies.

At the top of the hill is Cinderella's castle where she lost her glass slipper. Can you spot the pumpkin half-way down the hill? It was left on the road after the magic spell was broken at midnight!

And here I am with my friend Catherine on the Buzz Lightyear ride. Someone was busy chatting and didn’t pay attention during the shooting gallery game!
