gryphon tea room in Savannah

Every summer when I visit Savannah, my first stop in the city is Gryphon.

Gryphon is an ultra-hip tea room located in the heart of Savannah, on a historic corner overlooking Madison Square.

In its intimate book-filled interior, I feel perfectly at home and oh, sooo happy! Leopard carpet and comfortably upholstered antique furniture makes this tea room extra cozy.

I always order the tea service complete with a variety of mini sandwiches, scones, tarts and fruit. I'm headed there later this week and I can't wait!

The sweets on the tea menu last year were Strawberry Chocolate Tarts, Raspberry Windows, Orange Butter Tarts, Coconut with Toffee Macaroons and Peaches & Cream Puffs.

They also serve yummy tea sandwiches, fresh fruit and scones with the tea service. The cucumber cream cheese sandwiches and delicate chicken salad sandwiches are just dreamy!

If you’re in Savannah, Gryphon can be found at

337 Bull Street
Savannah, Georgia

designer crush: sanctuary home decor

Now that we’re into August, the blog posts for this month will still be headed to your inboxes with lots of fun photos, home tours and city tours, but I’m condensing the writing just a bit as I’m on a mini-summer vacation.

Today’s tour is of Karen from Sanctuary Home Décor’s beautiful garden.

Karen has the most exquisite taste both inside and outside of her home, and I’m a huge fan!

At her newly built California farmhouse, Karen has created a cozy environment where they’re even fortunate enough to have horses in the backyard!

There are so many intimate outdoor spots to lounge in.

And she has the most amazing green thumb…

She’s got all my favorite plants and flowers here!

And a glorious shed devoted to flowers…

which look amazing on the tables she sets.

I love her use of color here.

The color of plates remind me of a well loved pair of blue jeans.

You can check out more of Karen’s home here,

collecting: blue glassware

As I mentioned yesterday, my glassware collection had been growing steadily over the last year, and today I’m showcasing my favorite pieces in blue.

This first set is called the Trestle Goblet by Fitz & Floyd and it’s been so good to me! I truly do love them, and they even made it on the cover of Farmhouse Style magazine!

They’re the perfect shade of blue and the perfect size.

They’re just perfect!

They can go from farmhouse to romantic in a blink of an eye. If you want to find a quick way to instantly bling up a table, adding these blue glasses are a no-fail way.

Set a plain table with white plates and napkins, and these will add instant pizzazz!

This vintage set is my new favorite! I haven’t used them in an official tablescape yet, but you can spot them here.

These tall water glasses (above & below) are the prettiest colors and were found at my favorite thrift store with a huge lot of plates, silverware and more. Such a great find!

It’s always fun to mix and match these candy-colored glasses on your table!

Here’s the table I set at Blue Door Cottage recently with rented tableware, including these beautiful glasses!

As you can see from the following photos, the possibilities are endless with how you can use these sparkly blue beauties!

Now that it’s officially August, I’ll be taking just a little more time off to spend with my family and enjoy what's left of summer.

I have a couple of fun trips planned and hopefully that'll allow a little time to hunt for new thrift stores, as well. I’ll keep you posted!
