lovely christmas inspo

Just sharing some fun holiday ideas that were spotted in the December issues of my favorite magazines… As you might know, Lauren Conrad is a favorite of mine. I love her personal and home decorating style.

From the lux wreath on her door to her living room Christmas tree to her dinner table, Lauren has a fun casual but elegant style that I love. And doesn't she look cute in all the holiday fashion she's wearing?

Oh, that table! I love everything about it!

Here’s a great idea. If your foyer is large enough, why not create a little lounge area for the holidays to accommodate extra guests?

I have a gorgeous artificial tree this year, that I love, but I’m always a sucker for that old-fashioned Christmas tree  look that's all decked out with beaded garlands and glass ornaments.

Here’s another beauty with a more natural, but still very chic, design, from Martha Stewart, of course.

A little pink and orange added to a magenta-red makes for a really fun color scheme for Christmas. Evergreen garlands are kept simple to play off the look!

Modern, simple and fun!

headphones just got sexy

My favorite gift of the season is this set of ultra-stylish headphones by Loopit. When not in use, these headphones look like a classic Chanel-inspired chain and leather necklace, but within seconds it transforms into a unique set of headphones. They're perfect for travel, work and everyday errands.

I use mine all the time, and they really are totally tangle-free and the sound comes through great! Magnets connect the headphones back into necklace mode when not in use. I’ve stocked up on these to give to a few of my bffs for the holidays. Check them out here

They come in several styles and colors. My favorite Loopit style is the one shown here in black and silver. Don’t you just love online shopping?! I'll be doing most of my shopping online again this year, but will be picking up a few fun goodies at my favorite local shops!

They're really easy to use.  Here's Charlize Theron modeling a set.

christmas roses of many colors

Here’s a little fairy tale of a story…

Once upon a time I stopped by Trader Joe’s for a some milk and bread, when suddenly as I was walking through the floral section, I was stopped by a charming group of roses. They were quiet, but spoke to me in a way only beautiful flowers can, through color and fragrance.

Pink, yellow, orange and cream, the colors work so lovely together. The roses were so pretty that they sat next to me on the drive home, keeping a smile on my face with their lovely scent. In the car they spoke to me again... a deja vu of sorts....

Yes, those roses reminded me of The Ivy, a landmark restaurant nestled between Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. To have them look their best, I’d have to dress these roses in the appropriate vintage style of The Ivy. And how I love vintage tableware!

The next day the Mr and I headed out to the thrift store with our carload of donations. We dropped off our goods, and stopped in to check out the housewares department, and what happened to appear before my very eyes, but treasure after treasure for my table...

first a silver plated coffee pot, then a small hand-painted ceramic pitcher, a set of vintage Japanese plates with pink and yellow flowers, sky blue cut glass compotes and more.

Happy with my purchases and already setting the table in my head, we drove home, but wait! Another thrift store… a few more goodies and then an estate sale, and another…

we finally made it home with our treasures.

The table is set for a lovely Sunday brunch, and I feel transported (in more ways than one) to The Ivy! Happily ever after, for now. Thanks for taking this little shopping excursion with me. xoxo
