yummy iced tea mocktail

Happy National Iced Tea Day!

Here's a yummy recipe to try this weekend.

Fruity Green Tea Spritzer

8 bags green tea
4 cups boiling water
3 tablespoons honey or sugar
4 cups assorted fresh fruit, such as white or regular nectarine wedges, lime slices, blueberries, and/or raspberries
1 liter plain or flavored sparkling water, such as raspberry, strawberry, or peach, chilled
2 tablespoons snipped fresh mint or 8 to 10 mint sprigs

Add tea bags to boiling water and let stand for 2 to 3 minutes; remove and discard tea bags. Cover and chill brewed tea.  Before serving, add honey or sugar to chilled tea. Divide tea mixture among eight to ten 12-ounce glasses. Add fruit to each glass and fill with sparkling water. Top with fresh mint. Makes 8 to 10 servings.

white marble kitchen crushes

There’s something extraordinary about a kitchen that features white marble.  It's timeless and modern at the same time.

It is earthy but sleek, cool but glowing at the same time.  This dichotomy must be what draws us into the allure of white marble.

For me, there can never be too much in one kitchen. Here are some of my kitchen crushes this week.

a fire pit styled two ways

Have you seen this fire pit in the pages of Better Homes and Gardens magazine?  It also has been featured on the Newport Harbor Home & Garden Tour.  The top photo is from the home tour, and shows how the home owner Karen Fabian designed the space.  The bottom photo was taken through the creative eyes of the BHG photographers and stylists who added just the right pillows in just the right spots to create this dazzling photo.  See more fun photos of this home here on their pinterest board.

trisha's summer table

Isn’t this the sweetest summer table setting by Trisha Yearwood?
Trisha got her plates at Target and the cute napkins are from Minted.

This is an easy look to achieve...just accent with blue & white tableware,
add raffia place mats, and other natural accessories, add some wild flowers,

and you're ready for the sweet tea!

Trisha Yearwood's Sweet Tea

4 large, family-size tea bags
16 cups water
1 ½ cups sugar

Fill a teakettle or saucepan with enough water to completely cover the tea bags, about 2 cups. Bring to a boil and remove from the heat. Let the tea stand for 10 minutes. Put the sugar into a gallon pitcher and add 1 cup of cold water. Stir to mix slightly. Pour the hot tea into the sugar mixture and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the remaining 13 cups of cold water to fill the pitcher.
