As many of you know, Serena and Lily is one of my favorite design shops. I own many furniture pieces, especially chairs, pillows and tableware from this fun and coastal inspired company.

a super cute yard for parties

Browsing through the pages of this month’s HGTV magazine, I noticed that this home is just a couple of blocks from my house! I love how this fun outdoor space is so perfect for entertaining friends and family… 

This grilling area is so similar to mine! We have the same brick base and concrete top on our outdoor island with the grill. I really like how close this grilling and eating area is to the other dining space under the pergola. 

So FUN! 

Having this much seating and counter space really would make hosting a party a breeze. The 10 foot x 4 foot concrete and brick dining island comfortably seats four and can double as a buffet area. The mint green stools are from Target.

A one-of-a-kind seashell fountain is the perfect focal point for the seating area off the dining room. These chairs are from Terra Patio and the colorful outdoor rug is from Kohl’s. 

Can you believe this home’s front yard features a fire pit!? It’s turned out to be the favorite gathering spot for the cul-de-sac and really creates a great sense of community with the neighbors. 

We’ve had such great weather this week, So perfect for sparking up the fire pit late in the afternoon! How would you feel about having a fire pit in the front yard? I’m not sure it would work at my house. 

I love the privacy of having one in my back yard and hosting friends there. I hope you’re having a lovely weekend and can be outdoors enjoying life’s offerings!

a stunning beach house tour

This is one of my favorite houses down by the beach. It has incredible designer details and mixes antiques with seashells and beachy accents.   

Great curb appeal is achieved here with a clean palette of 

white and traditional brick and is finished off with a long 

wrap-around porch and citrus trees in pots.

The living room is a perfect mix of antiques

in an ocean and sand color palette.

A natural fiber rug and

window shades pull it all together. 

My favorite part of this family room is the seashell encrusted fireplace surround. It has all the amenities a family could want, including easy access to the backyard swimming pool.

The white kitchen gets a bit of color from the turquoise tile backsplash, and a breathtaking mermaid mosaic highlights the kitchen and sets the tone for this seaside theme. Majolica plates in greens adorn the window on the right side. The rich wood floor gives the whole space warmth. 

The dining room greets visitors at the front of the house and is just off the kitchen.  It's walls are a vibrant turquoise venetian plaster and the dining chairs are a sandy colored linen, finished off with playful striped seats.  French doors open up to the front porch.

Perfect balance and symmetry makes this room simple, 

and the colors make it so fun!

The master bedroom is a quiet sanctuary 

with its own private outdoor retreat.

The soothing colors continue on through the master bath.

I love the mix of bohemian chic antiques with the colors of the sea. 

A nice little quiet spot in the hallway.

Here the decor has turned sweet and feminine.

A useful study nook at the top of the stairs. 

Custom pierced cabinets define the laundry room area.

A beautiful pool, a fire pit with comfortable seating

and a barbecue station enhance this backyard.

Notice the second mermaid mosaic.  

This one is the focal point of the outdoor space.

A third story deck is blissfully enjoyed,

especially when gorgeous Pacific sunsets

can be easily spied from a comfy spot

on the outdoor sofas.

One of my favorite shops to visit at SOCO & the OC Mix is the Brown Jordan showroom. They have the most amazing selection of outdoor furniture and accessories, and cover everything from classic traditional farmhouse style to mid-century Palm Springs chic.
