a visit to Sapori Italian Restaurant

We had the most amazing holiday dinner this week at one of our all-time favorite Italian restaurants, Sapori Ristorante. One of the true hidden gems of Newport Beach for authentic Italian food.

Not only do they have all the traditional pasta dishes you could imagine, they also have so many delicious seafood, poultry and meat options. We opted for a starter of the Shrimp in White Wine and Garlic Sauce. Very good!!

For dinner I selected the Filet Mignon with Porcini Mushrooms and a Cognac Cream Sauce, while Willy had one of the specials of the evening, the Grilled Branzino served with a side of Angel Hair Pasta. All very, very good!

In fact, I think it was the best steak I’ve ever had!!

For dessert, we couldn’t decide between the Tiramisu and the Creme Brulee, so we had both!

They offer the coziest dining experience on their outdoor patio, where the beautiful fireplace takes center stage. During Christmastime, the restaurant feels very special and so festive!

My husband and I arrived early to make sure we got a nice seat next to the warm fireplace.

In addition to the cozy patio, they also have a beautiful indoor seating area, which also opens up to the bar and more informal pizzeria restaurant.

Whether you dine in for pizza, or order takeout, the pizzas are authentically made the Italian way!! Is there any other way that pizza could be more delicious?

Conveniently located on Bayside Drive between Newport Beach, and Corona del Mar, I would recommend this restaurant whole-heartedly to all my friends!

pumpkin season is here!

Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins... there’s never too many! Maybe it’s because I’m an October baby, but I just love fall and Halloween.

Roger’s Gardens always gets their pumpkins in early, and they have so many to choose from, so I did stock up on some pretty ones about 10 days ago.

I love to use them on my table, on the mantel and then later in October I do put some out on the front patio. I especially love the little white ones. They’re really cute at a place setting and just sprinkled around the house on a shelf on a stack of books.

These linens from are from August Table. Tomorrow you’ll get to see the WHOLE table and how it came together. I love how the soft and subdued gray and tan of this Talelayo Pewter pattern works elegantly for fall, especially with the softly colored pumpkins.

So, I’m actually on the hunt today for some really tiny white ones. I think I’ll head to Trader Joe’s first to see what they have. There’s something special I have planned for them this week.

the best of the cdm home tour

As much as we’re used to events being canceled this year, it's hard to say it... there will be no local home tours this year. The annual Newport Harbor Home Tour had to be canceled back in May, and I believe there's no plan for the Corona del Mar Home Tour, which usually takes place at the end of October.

So today, as a special treat, we’re to taking a look at the best of last year’s CDM home tour. This home was designed by Shannon McLaren of Prairie Interiors and has recently been featured online at Elle Décor. It’s the epitome of relaxed and stylish California living.
