perfect fall & winter tables settings

Pomegranate pattern tablecloth & Laura's Garden napkin

Beautiful table linens make the most perfect table settings. Fun, vibrant patterns set the tone for your table, and then you can add a simplistic style of plates, glasses and utensils.

So I’m thrilled to introduce you to the two newest patterns by Pacific & Rose, Pomegranate and Laura’s Garden. In the photo above, you can see the beautiful way they coordinate with each other.

These colors and patterns are so pretty all year long, but I especially love the way they work for fall and winter gatherings. I’m talking the big holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukah.

Fancy-looking napkin folding can be fun and easy. If you’d like a tip on how to do this fan fold with a twist napkin look, check out this post.

The details of each of these hand blocked patterns is exquisite. I especially love the pretty birds perched among the floral vines in the Laura’s Garden pattern. Aren’t they sweet?

Not only are there tablecloths available in these patterns, but for a more relaxed look, try the table runner with matching placemats. Then for the final touch, choose either a matching or coordinating napkin.

The Ivy Green napkin also works great with these new patterns. This is a great example of how fun it is to mix and match Pacific & Rose’s patterns with each other.

I just love how the pretty pattern and borders of the runners drape off the edge of the table. The uniqueness of these hand blocked patterns with their subtle variations gives each of these pieces a truly rare look that sooths the eye.

Every single piece of this collection is hand-blocked in India where they’ve perfected this technique for centuries.

Check out the juxtaposition of real pomegranates to the lovely pattern shown here in the tea towels.

I just happened upon these little pomegranates in my next-door neighbor’s yard when we were picking lemons from her tree. She was kind enough to let me have a few for this photo shoot.

How cute are these aprons, scarves and cosmetic bags? They make the most perfect gifts for a friend or for yourself!

The moral of this story is setting a beautiful fall or winter table doesn’t have to daunting. By starting out with a gorgeous palette of table linens, most of the work will be done for you! Just add flowers and your basic tableware and you’re all set.

this week's stylings

I'm so happy it’s the weekend! This past week has been a busy one for styling projects. Summer was a sort of a hiatus for me, so it’s fun to get back behind the camera and style a few things.

You may have seen this first table setting on Instagram. Aren’t these Hydrangea plates by Honey + Hank adorable? Can you make out each of the distinctive shapes of each of our states?

It's ingenious how they group them to form these fun stylized hydrangeas! A great size and the fact that these plates are melamine, makes them so great for everyday use. Pretty plates at lunch are a must!

I had a few new pillows to style too. These are from Pacific & Rose, made in India, and are hand stitched in creative designs. They’re available exclusively at Seaside Gallery.

New outdoor Bluetooth speakers by iLIVE are my new favorite thing for the garden! Read more about them HERE.

New holiday pillow alert!

Justina Blakeney of The Jungalow has designed the most stylish of all holiday pillows in her collaboration with Loloi Rugs

This chic, fully embroidered philodendron-like pattern is just what the doctor ordered to brighten up a boring little corner.  It's perfect for adding a bit of cheer during Christmas, but it'll fit in perfectly at my home all year round.

I have one more amazing throw from the Loili collaboration that I'm set to unveil in October... Can't wait to show you!

the fall look

Here are a couple of florals for a photoshoot I did on Friday for Pacific & Rose’s two newest patterns, Pomegranate & Laura's Garden.

Most of the flowers are from Trader Joe's but I did sneak in a few white English roses, leafy Nandina, and scented geraniums from the garden to fill out the look.

The pretty tea towel on the left is a preview of the new Pomegranate pattern collection by Pacific & Rose. Isn't it pretty?

You’ll get to see the whole collection when it's made public on Wednesday, so I’d love it if you check back with me to see it here on the blog.

the summer look

After finishing up the arrangements in these two ironstone pitchers, it reminded me of the set up I did for the summer cover of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style, so I tried to recreate the look with a fall vibe in the same sunny corner of the breakfast room.

Which do you prefer, summer or fall?

Pumpkins are one of the greatest joys of autumn, so one of the biggest treats for me is my latest collaboration with Armstrong Garden Centers.

I stopped by the Costa Mesa store yesterday and was thrilled to find that they had all my favorite pumpkins and gourds already available.

I just love the curly, twisty stems!

Here’s a little sampling of what my cart looked like while I was shopping, but that was just a start! I also selected several beautiful mums, autumn grasses, annuals, and perennials to dress up my tables, mantel, and front porch.

It’s important to stock up early on these items because I use them sooooo much from now clear through to Thanksgiving. They're so versatile and really add that pop of seasonal fun!

I hope your Sunday is a beautiful one. Can’t wait to check back with you soon!

sweet music for the backyard

This past year, I’ve spent a whole lot of time in the garden and enjoying the perks of being outdoors, in general.

My goal of growing lots of pretty flowers for cutting has really kept me busy, and I want to let you in on one of my favorite little secrets…

It’s this amazing set of iLIVE indoor-outdoor bluetooth speakers that I just sync with my smart phone playlist from Spotify.

Now I get 360° full-bodied sound while I’m in the garden enjoying the fresh air and the company of the adorable birds and butterflies we’ve had this year.

These iLIVE Bluetooth speakers have been a game changer for me. They include removable stakes, so you can strategically place your music outdoors for everyday enjoyment or your next backyard party.

In fact, they’d also be perfect for a picnic, a beach day or camping.

They’re durable and waterproof so you can keep the party going, wherever you take it.

So perfect for a pool party!

This pair of speakers even has an option to play music individually or together in Party Plus Mode. I also use them indoors at my desk or in the kitchen while I'm cooking.

I love how when out in sun they are solar power charged and can just keep playing all day longThese amazing outdoor speakers definitely make my outdoor time much more enjoyable.

And by the way, I have a fun 80's playlist that really gets me moving in the garden!

You can check out these exact iLIVE Speakers HERE, but they're also available at Macy's and Walmart. And wouldn't these also make a great Christmas gift?

the queen of sunflowers

The fall issue of Country Home really has me feeling the autumn season inching its way closer and closer. And the standout in the whole magazine is this article featuring my Instagram pal and stylist extraordinaire Karin Lidbeck-Brent.

She actually grew ALL of these gorgeous sunflowers from seed in 2019 and then proceeded to style them in the most beautiful ways!

For all the details on how this all came to fruition, you’ve got to pick up a copy of Country Home. I’m just here to share all these lovely snapshots with you today.

Karin's styling prowess is legendary, and I was a huge fan of hers before I even knew it.

Here are some of the iconic images I fell in love with on Pinterest, back in the day. Most of them appeared in Better Homes & Gardens Magazine.

Now isn’t your day just a little bit brighter seeing these fantastic seasonal images? I’m off to create some of my own vignettes for a few styling projects I have lined up.

Of course, Karin is the Queen, and I can only aspire to create images as beautiful as her stylings. I’m a one-woman show, so I do have to photograph my own stuff… but I love working at my own pace and being my own worst critic!

Some new stylings I have in works are for…

Pacific & Rose

Bouquet Box

August Table

Honey + Hank

Amber Lewis

ilive speakers

Can’t wait for you to check out these new goodies that I love so much!
