19 gorgeous fall florals

The latest issue of Cottages and Bungalows magazine has arrived, confirming that autumn is just about here!

I'm thrilled to be featured in the beautiful October issue, showcasing 19 of my favorite fall floral arrangements.

Whether it's sunflowers or dahlias, flowers are sure to bring warmth and brightness to your home this autumn!

Here's a detailed look at each and every fall floral featured.

Each arrangement highlighted in the magazine draws inspiration from the rich, warm hues and textures characteristic of the autumn season.

With shorter days and cooler temperatures, I find even greater joy in sharing these seasonal displays with friends and visitors.

The colors and textures of these fallflorals lend themselves beautifully to festive gatherings, sophisticated dinners, or peaceful mornings spent admiring their visual charm.

Have a wonderful week, my friends!

fall florals for Cottages & Bungalows

That "autumn is around the corner" feeling is official with the fall issue of Cottages and Bungalows magazine!

I'm so excited to be included in the gorgeous October issue with 19 of my favorite fall florals that I've created being featured.

From sunflowers to hydrangeas to dahlias, flowers will always brighten up your home for fall!

Here's a little peek at the magazine pages...

Kelly McMaster the editor of Cottages and Bungalows wrote the most thoughtful introduction to this article. Here’s a little snippet…

“A long-time friend of our brand and talented content creator Claudia Reese has cultivated a gorgeous and abundant garden. Her floral styling skills are exceptional and her flair for including them in vignettes throughout her home are awe inspiring. Whether Claudia uses blooms from her garden or store-purchased finds, she creates magic with them.”

“We asked her for the inspiration behind her arrangements along with tips we can all use in our own homes to add vibrant fall color.”

As an added bonus, I'm also sharing a few florals I've created over the last month using flowers exclusively from my garden.

I love experimenting with combinations of autumnal flowers and foliage, bringing together classic favorites like mums, dahlias, and zinnias to create unique and inviting displays.

These florals not only celebrate the beauty of fall but also bring a sense of coziness and charm to every room.

Each arrangement featured in the magazine was inspired by the rich, warm hues and textures that define the season.

As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, I find even more joy in sharing these seasonal arrangements with family and friends.

The colors and textures of fall florals naturally lend themselves to festive gatherings, cozy dinners, and quiet mornings spent admiring their beauty.

For those looking to bring a touch of autumn into their own homes, I always recommend starting with a few favorite blooms and layering in unexpected elements like berries, branches, or ornamental grasses.

With a little creativity, anyone can transform their space into a welcoming retreat that reflects the spirit of the season.

spooky chic halloween hutch

It’s finally time to share some fun Halloween inspiration today.

My living room hutch was in dire need of some Halloween attention, so I just left most of my ironstone pieces in place and just added a little bit of spooky fun.

Think of walking through the October woods at dusk, with the full moon starting to emerge overhead, and a slight breeze in the air rustling the trees…

That’s the vibe I’m going for.

I brought in some Spanish moss, dusty eucalyptus and curly twigs to add some natural elements.

The color palette was kept neutral, and I just added some little owls, cats, crows and pumpkins for that Halloween touch.

Perennial sunflowers brighten up this whole look and offer an unexpected pop of color.

I finished it off with a few candles, including some fun little ghostly face candles I found at Ikea.

Here’s a look at the hutch without all the seasonal décor.

Earlier this year I added this pretty blue and white floral wallpaper to the back of the hutch to create a little fun backdrop. The original back of the hutch was painted a rusty brown color.

And now take a peek at the festive Christmas look I created for the month of December. The adorable toadstool garlands from World Market set the tone for a vintage nature-inspired holiday look.

I left most of my white ironstone in place and just added a few small Belsnickel Santas, a tall cloche filled with Santa Claus mugs, bottle brush trees and ribbons.

farmhouse style for fall 2023

Have you picked up the Autumn issue of Farmhouse Style yet? 🍁🍂

They’re celebrating their fifth year, and this issue is just filled to the brim with fall décor inspiration, fun DIY projects and yummy recipes.

As a regular contributor to Country Sampler Farmhouse Style, I have a few season projects and recipes to show you today…

Check out the table runner. It’s made entirely of vintage book pages. I took a damaged book, ripped out the pages and affixed them to contact paper to create this look.

Here’s another view of the table that did not appear in this issue. I love how the patina of the old book pages blends in so well with the rustic autumn leaves.

And check out these gorgeous Acorn Leaf Plates from Vagabond House. They’re heirloom quality china, and so pretty!

Also notice the little DIY Votive. It’s also featured in this issue. Pretty gauzy napkins are from Amazon, and most everything else is vintage.

Next up is my fun collection of vintage enamel coffee pots. I really love the ones with curvy spouts and the ones with the little glass percolator knobs on top.

I styled them here for fall with sunflowers, daisies and autumn leaves from the garden.

Here’s the same look but without the autumn leaves. Which look do you prefer? This one would work any time of year, wouldn't it?

This fall issue also featured one of the first projects I created for Farmhouse style, this apple wreath. I still remember how happy and amazed I was when it first appeared in print 5 years ago!

One of the cutest projects are these repurposed glass jars made into votives by simply using old book pages, a little baker’s twine and some mod podge. A little pumpkin cut-out adds fall charm to the whole look.

I also used these on the tablescape with the book page table runner that I mentioned above. It all goes together hand in hand with the autumn vibe.

A Halloween tablescape is up next. I kept it elegant and slightly spooky all with a farmhouse twist. The Farmhouse Stripe Table Linens is what really gives it that home feel, and I used vintage china for added warmth and character.

Bright pops of orange marigolds gives it that fun Halloween vibe and of course the black candles bring it all to life.

Back to the “Novel Décor” article, they also brought back one of my vintage projects that appeared in their Kitchen Issue. This one using old books as a knife block is quite cheeky, but it works brilliantly!

And  check out that preppy madras belt. I stole that from my hubby's closet, but he was happy to lend it to me.

Two of my recipes are featured in this fall issue, and first up we have this yummy dessert. I’ve been making this Sweet Potato Chiffon Pie at Thanksgiving for many years, and it’s definitely a family favorite.

The cute napkin featured above is from August Table.

The theme for the recipe article is “Favorite Southern Dishes”, and this one fits the bill perfectly. Another favorite Southern recipe is my take on She-Crab Soup.

Back in the day, way, way back in the day, they used crab roe for this recipe, but by today’s standards, that’s not sustainable, so here I substituted egg yolks to give it an extra luxurious kick.

The Blue Crab Cheese Board and Pewter Crab Place Card Holders are from Vagabond House.

🍁🍂 All-in-all this is a great issue,

and given that I love fall soooo much,

this one definitely has lots for seasonal inspo.🍁🍂
