Laura's cottage magazine shoot

September arrived before I even had time to catch my breath! I had every intention of sharing Laura’s lovely little cottage on Thursday, but my computer crashed that morning!! Luckily, everything was recovered and here I am three days later trying to catch up...

Let's go back to last Tuesday in Orange during our photo shoot with Cottages & Bungalows... I had the most fun setting this beautiful outdoor table with Laura's adorable floral china.

Everything in Laura’s home is picture-perfect, and that’s why I knew it would be so perfect for the pages of C&B! Over the last nine months, Laura & Dennis completely renovated this adorable 1946 cottage.

The charm starts right at the front door with its lovely curb appeal. Here are Brett and Jickie capturing the morning light just right with the front porch being highlighted by sunlight.

Here’s the vintage-inspired bar cart I styled. It’s actually from World Market and looks perfect with all the mid-century furniture Laura's collected. The sunflowers were the perfect addition to this vignette.

My favorite part of the day was putting the finishing touches on Laura’s outdoor dining table. The sun was very hot that day, so we had to wait until after 4pm to start laying the garland down and then accenting it with colorful blooms of mums, dahlias and stock.

Here I am trimming the flower heads for the table runner. We also decided to add a single bloom to each place setting simply centered on the white napkins.

Laura’s backyard is an entertainer’s paradise and the beautiful garden in the background is a bonus! The raised beds include tomatoes, beets, eggplant, lettuces and herbs.

These purple-pink mums are so perfect with this chintz patterned china that’s covered in tiny flowers.

I wanted the center garland to be reminiscent of a flower crown that you'd see worn at a wedding or during midsummer celebrations.

The last shot of the day was the firepit area, and WOW, Dennis lit a whopper of a fire! As soon as it settled down a bit, they were able to get just the right shots.

It turned out to be a super fun and productive day! The layout for these photos is scheduled for either a Spring or Summer 2020 issue of Cottages and Bungalows. I’ll keep you posted.

Until then, I hope you’re all having a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

ciao! fabiana
