a new look with blue and white

We're skipping ahead one season today, just for fun! This vivid Villa Vaux blue and white tablecloth from August Table simply goes hand in hand with this pretty little Crab Cheese Board from Vagabond House.

Throw some white hydrangeas into a vintage blue Calico pitcher, and I feel transported to the middle of July.

Summer sunshine is in my thoughts, probably to help block out all the rain we’re having today!

And check out the same August Table Villa Vaux Tablecloth and napkins with the most adorable Easter cookies found at Whole Foods.

I love how easily these blue and white patterns mix with all my vintage blue transferware plates!

Be sure to check back soon, as I’ve got a pretty red, white and blue version of this Villa Vaux pattern ready for all the patriotic holidays this summer!

strawberry tiramisu

A new favorite recipe for Strawberry Tiramisu gets first place in the yummy department, especially when displayed in my beautiful new Arthur Court Butterfly Pyrex Baking Dish.

This is the perfect recipe to make now while as the strawberries are in season. I'll be making this for Easter and for Mother's day, just because it's so pretty and truly delicious!

Check out all the pretty butterflies!! You can't get better than this set that includes the super-useful matching glass cover. I went all in with the gorgeous Butterfly Collection by Arthur Court.

Yes, those are glass coffee mugs that match the casserole dish. So cute, right?!

There also happens to be matching napkin rings, plates, placemats and more with the same cute butterfly motif. I'll be using this collection all spring and summer long, and you can check out two of my Butterfly tablescapes HERE.

Now here’s the good news…

the entire Butterfly Collection from Arthur Court  is 10% off

book review: charcuterie for movie fans

I just found the perfect book for my aunt Jackie and uncle Bob who are huge move fans and amazing gourmet cooks. Once Upon a Rind in Hollywood: 50Movie-Themed Cheese Platters and Snack Boards for Film Fanatics.

This is a unique cookbook featuring 50 different snack board ideas, from timeless charcuterie to candy platters and cocktail pairings, all themed around iconic movies.

This book outlines everything you need to create cheesy cinematic pairings (and even cheesier puns) like:

*May the Fromage Be with You (Star Wars)

*Draw Me Like One of Your French Gruyères (Titanic)

*I’ll Harvarti What She’s Having (When Harry Met Sally)

*Quesoblanca (Casablanca)

*Brie-king Dawn (Twilight)

*Roquefort Horror Picture Show (Rocky Horror Picture Show)

And so many more!

I even picked up a copy for myself because I feel like you never know when you'll have the occasion to celebrate your favorite films.

I'm going to keep my eye out on TCM for some of the movies featured in this book and then DVR them for a fun-filled film night!

Creating a delicious movie-themed charcuterie platter and pairing it with that movie is just the party theme I need for 2023!

traditional home: gorgeous kitchens

I’m just popping in today to share some

amazing

kitchens I’ve recently seen in

Traditional Home magazine.

As a true enthusiast of so many different styles,

I love seeing unique mixes of different design genres
creating true eclectic décor.

One thing I know for sure is
a kitchen has to be bright and cheerful,

afterall,

that’s were many of us spend

One thing that’s most important is how a room

makes you feel.

Add elements that you love,
but remember not to make your kitchen feel cluttered.

How can you not feel happy seeing this

Do you have anything special on your kitchen wish list?

All these lovely photos are from Traditional Home magazine.

farmhouse style for spring 2023

Wishing you all the happiest of new years!!

Just before the end of the year, I received the newest issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style magazine that includes a few of my latest contributions.

I must say, this is one of the most beautiful issues of Farmhouse Style to date, and it’s so fitting, as they celebrate their 5th year!

“Oh my, Muffins” is the recipe article for this edition, and I have two contributions.

The first is an all-time favorite of mine, Morning Glory Muffins. These muffins are filled with grated carrots, apples, pineapple, coconut, raisins and pecans and just a touch of orange zest, and they’re so good!

Morning Glory muffins were my biggest craving when I was pregnant, and I would buy them at Sunflour Bakery here in Costa Mesa.

They’re no longer around, so I learned how to make them on my own and I even added a little twist to the recipe with the addition of orange zest!

Savory muffins are very underrated and so delicious. There are so many options for savory muffins, but this Zucchini Picnic Muffin is my favorite.

Bacon, onion, zucchini, cheddar and herbs add the most lovely flavor profile to these delectable muffins, and they sure are so perfect for a picnic!

Starting on page 8, you can read all about bread boards and cutting boards and how they can add warmth to your kitchen and home with fun ways to display them.

I have a few favorite bread boards that are vintage, and I use them all the time for bread and other baked goods.

Isn’t this tablecloth cute too? It’s one from my gingham collection.

A few fun suggestions on how to “Elevate your Address” are shared on page 102, and they even included my DIY painted doormat that I submitted last year for a different article.

This issue is just filled with pretty farmhouse style home tours, and this kitchen is one of my favorites…

I love those green painted doors and all the rustic textures in this home. The fancy mirror and interesting variety of light fixtures make this so fun!

Here’s another inspiring interior, and can you believe this is the inside of a shed?! The silhouette collection and antique daybed really speak to me.

And this kitchen....

Love it!!

Here’s another peek at my favorite bread boards. The search will continue on in 2023 for another one or two boards that may cross my path.

This is just one of the many lovely things I love to collect.

What’s on your radar this year for collecting?

sheet pan mac and cheese

Hi, friends. It’s been busy around here with a new garden potager project we’re working on. We removed all the lawn from our backyard that faces my garden shed, and I designed 6 raised beds for planting all sorts of veggies and herbs.

In the meantime, you won’t need any veggies and herbs to whip up this amazing Sheet Pan Mac and Cheese recipe for supper.

It appeared in the Kitchen Makeovers Issue of Country Sampler a while back, and this recipe is still a huge hit for my family, so this is what’s for dinner tonight!

I’ll be back soon with pictures of my new potager garden, and I hope you have a fabulous day! xoxo
