a table to launch the fall season

With the official start of the fall season tomorrow, I’ve set a light and bright autumn table, and the stars of this show are these gorgeous table linens. I’m absolutely loving my new tablecloth and napkins from August Table

This pattern is called Talelayo Pewter which works so elegantly all year long, but I especially love it for fall when I can add lots of pastel colored pumpkins and other natural elements to the table.

I started with layering two soft terracotta colored pumpkins and a few small white ones at the center of the table to create a focal point.

Adding two lengths of fresh grape vine cut from the backyard to extend the length of the table adds a bit of drama.

The grape vine just gives the table that "pumpkin patch" feel I love. Acorns are scattered around just for fun.

For each place setting, I started with Serena & Lily’s Round Raffia Place Mat, and the added a large white ceramic dinner plate with a beaded design.

For the salad plates, I used my favorite pumpkin shaped gray plates that I found at Home Goods a couple of years ago. Vintage black bamboo flatware adds contrast and the napkins rings add more texture to compliment the place mats.

If you look closely, you can see the lovely hand whip stitched border on the napkins and the tablecloth in a contrasting khaki color. That stitching picks up the other natural colors at the table and really works well together.

I also love the weight and feel of these Talelayo napkins. They’re made out of a heavier cotton twill fabric, so they’re luxurious and soft at the same time.

The overall look of this pattern works so perfectly here in my breakfast room. I love it with my Serena & Lily pendant and the philodendron in the corner. And look at how pretty the linens look with those gray pumpkins too!

Adding a natural element is so important for setting a pretty table. Feel free to go outdoors and trim a little ivy or other vine and weave it throughout your design.

Here’s a fun napkin fold that works great with most napkin rings. I call it “The Fan with a Twist”. Stop by again tomorrow, and I’ll show you how to achieve this look with step-by-step instructions and photos.

The pretty fleur de lys glassware is from La Rochere

Here’s the table with the afternoon sunlight streaming in. You can really see all the beautiful details of the pattern and stitching.

As the sun starts to set, the candles in the vintage brass candlesticks are lit ,and we’re almost ready for supper.

I do love the look of gray and white for fall, don’t you?

I’m so happy to have added these Talelayo linens to my collection. I know they’ll work for every season and occasion I have in mind
