sheryl crow's darling home

Ciao and Happy Wednesday!

How about a little rock 'n roll decor,
to spice things up a bit?

Today's sort of a busy day for me,
so I just thought I’d share
some pretty pictures
that I recently came across
of Sheryl Crow’s
fun and eclectic Nashville home.

Sheryl loves antiques
and most of the time,
her junking days now take place online.
She refers to herself as “the Queen of Ebay”,
so check out some of her fun collections….

Sheryl even built a vintage style little chapel on her land.
The setting is perfect!

And here, she can display more of her favorite collections.

Hope you enjoyed this little mini tour…

weekend home tour

Just sharing a little home tour with you…
This home in Corona del Mar
features indoor and outdoor living at its best.

Don't let its farmhouse exterior fool you,
the inside is soooo much more!

Exquisitely designed for
the ultimate California lifestyle
with the line between indoor and outdoor
rooms completely blurred.
It all becomes one amazing space.

High valuted ceilings add to the drama and
the huge walls of windows embrace the view
of the hills surrounding this home.

The swimming pool is at the center of the home
which adds to the pretty view of the outdoors.

Hosting a party here is a real treat!

What do you think of the kitchen?

It certainly is roomy!

Just for fun,
there’s also a little putting green out back.

But, what really got me was the amazing video
at the end of this post.
It’s a real treat!

gourmet weekend eggs

I’ve been a little spoiled lately with
these farm-fresh eggs
that I get at my local feed store.

They’re so fresh and have so much flavor
that I’ve been making this yummy recipe
on weekend mornings now, instead of having
our usual and boring hard-boiled eggs.

I recently discovered this easy way to
fix eggs, and they come out super-soft and fluffy.
They’re so dreamy and delicious,
you’ll never want to eat
hard and rubbery scrambled eggs again!

I love them with a side of Ezekial* toast,
and a sprinkling of fresh chives from the garden.

That’s a whole lot of delicious protein
to get us started in the morning!

Ingredients
3 large eggs
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
salt and black pepper
1 tablespoon crème fraiche or sour cream
1 tablespoon chopped chives

Directions
Beat the eggs in a bowl until smooth and evenly yellow.

Put the beaten eggs in a small saucepot with the butter. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring the entire time with a spatula or whisk. The eggs will slowly thicken, like custard. When the eggs start to thicken, season with salt and pepper. Return to the heat and cook until desired doneness is reached and they look scrambled. Mix in the crème fraiche or sour cream.

Serve with chives.

Ezekial* Bread is crafted in the likeness of the Holy Scripture verse Ezekiel 4:9 to ensure unrivaled honest nutrition and pure, delicious flavors.

"Take also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans,
and lentils and millet, and spelt and put them in one vessel…"

the weekend kids table and more

The kids’ table is ready, and here’s a little peek at it.

As I said, I‘m using paper goods this weekend for their table,
and, I found the cutest square plates with
chevron stripes at Oriental Trading.
And look at how cute the star shaped paper plates are…
They’re so perfect together!

The plastic utensils have been wrapped
in cute napkins and tied off with
 red and white baker’s twine.

Polka dotted patriotic paper lanterns
will be swaying in the breeze!

Some of our friends are bringing beverages,
so I thought I’d brighten up these plain water bottles
with a little red, white and blue washi tape.

I’ve never used washi tape before,
but I’ve seen lots of fun projects on pinterest.
It’s really easy to use,
and it’s kind of similar to masking tape.

I just created a flag design on the bottles
with 3 rows of the washi tape...

so easy!

I planted up this wooden flower box a few weeks ago with
white alyssum, blue lobelia and red geraniums,
and now they’re in full bloom and ready for the weekend.

They’ll sit on the beverage table nearby.

I couldn’t resist a few bunches of these cute daisies
when I spotted them at Trader Joe’s.

They’re soooo cheery and look so cute with this festive décor.

The grown-ups will have their utensils
and napkins ready to go too!

These recycled glasses are
so practical, cute and affordable,
I now have a few different
sets in different shades of blue and green.

I love mixing patterns and textures!

“Don’t you think daisies are the friendliest flower?”

Do you remember that quote from
the movie  “You’ve got Mail”?
Meg Ryan says it to Tom Hanks when
she’s sick and he brings her daisies.

These daisies are actually chamomile
and they smell so soothing.

I also painted these little white clay pots.
All I needed were a few red ones and
a few blue ones to scatter around the yard and tables!

Memorial Day is a sacred holiday.
It’s a day to remember and honor all
those who lost their lives fighting for our country.

And even though Monday’s a “holiday”,
it’s somewhat of a bittersweet day.
It’s a day to celebrate the freedom
we all enjoy,
while remembering the sacrifices so many
soldiers have made for us.

Let’s hope all the
pretty red, white and blue décor
that we see this weekend,
will remind us of how
lucky we are to be Americans!

outdoor dining inspiration

What better way to unwind this
weekend than by spending time outdoors?

Entertaining friends and family in
the back yard is a great change of routine,
and this weekend unofficially marks
the beginning of summer,
so take advantage of
what mother nature has
waiting for you!

I love this elegant inspiration
from Reese Witherspoon’s Ojai home.

Just heavenly!

Isn’t this a fun mix of vintage metal chairs?
Hanging a few lanterns from a large branch
is sure to provide the perfect ambiance.

No matter the size of your yard,
being outdoors can provide a tranquil
retreat away from your daily drill.

Set up a separate drink station
and then add a few pretty things to set the mood.
Flowers and candles usually do the trick!

I’m digging those vintage spiral taper candles!

Even a potting bench can be transformed
into a useful drink station for the summer!

The weekend is almost here...

enjoy!

While I’m here today, I wanted to share some of my "Tablescaping Essentials" with you. I have a whole page on the Amazon website with my favorite picks for setting a beautiful table.

Quite often time is of the essence, and I have last minute projects or events to work on, so I turn to Amazon for one or two day delivery. You’d be surprised at how many amazing items they have to offer! And I'm constantly updating this page with my new favorites.

You can check it out here, at Tablescaping Essentials.

setting an outdoor table for the weekend

I found the perfect combination of
red, white and blue outdoor plates and bowls
this week at Home Goods.

Outdoor table settings
are all about easy-care tableware and accessories.
You don't want things getting broken or damaged
while you're trying to have fun!

That’s why I love
these stylish melamine plates and
they'll be a pretty focal point at the table.

I’m just playing around with the setting today,
so I’ll be all ready for guests this weekend.

I’ll have more time for prepping and cooking,
if I know what going on the table.

Planning it all ahead of time and
setting the tableware aside,
 will make setting the table
an easy chore on Sunday.

I love how the patterns
interplay with each other so far!
The paisley and bandana fabrics
of the the runner and napkins really
compliment the patterns on dishes!

Here’s how the look is coming together so far…

Dinner Plates: Tommy Hilfiger
Salad Plates: Tommy Hilfiger
Bowls: Christopher Vine, Australia
Bamboo Cutlery: Ebay
Raffia Place Mat: IKEA
Table Runner: Cynthia Rowley
Votives: Oriental Trading
Pepsi Glass: vintage
