design crush: brooklyn decker

Actress and designer Brooklyn Decker’s traditional Texas-style farmhouse in Austin has amazing style!  This ranch-style retreat she shares with her tennis star husband, Andy Roddick is a modern mix of sophisticated industrial and beloved well-worn antiques.

In this month's MY DOMAINE you can take a peek at how she redesigned their sprawling five-bedroom natural wood, stone and light-filled hideaway to accommodate for family entertaining.

Do you may recognize Brooklyn from the show Grace & Frankie shown on Netflix?

The living room features a lofted, exposed-beam ceiling, limestone fireplace, denim and hardwood floors

According to Brooklyn, “When the marble came in, we realized how much it drew the blue and gray out of the stone. I don’t know if it’s a perfect match, but it was a lot of experimenting.”

Decker collected vintage Mexican serape blankets on Etsy to reupholster the full dining room chair set.  The bright colors bring just the right amount of fun into the dining room. “It’s a margarita pink. Everyone loves a margarita pink!” she says.

Decker’s love of family heirlooms and bespoke creations intertwine into her own personal style. “It’s very all-American,” she says. “A lot of wood, a lot of denim, a lot of natural elements, with a sense of humor.

A few vintage accents in the closet too!

“I think that’s where antiques are so wonderful. No matter how great construction is now, there’s something about an antique that just holds the test of time.”

 Spacious but cozy!

the cutest earth day cupcakes

Earth Day Cupcakes:

·    1 box cake mix
·    1 box (3.9 oz.) instant chocolate pudding
·    ½ cup sugar
·    ¾ cup water
·    ¾ cup coconut oil
·    4 eggs
·    1 cup sour cream
·    1 cup milk chocolate chips (optional)

   Topping:
·    1 can Rich & Creamy Chocolate Fudge Frosting
·    1 package (14.3 oz.) Oreo Cookies, for topping
·    marzipan leaves or small mint leaves, for topping

Directions:
1.  Follow the directions on the cake mix package, mixing the ingredients in a large bowl until combined.
2.  Fill cupcake liners ¾ full with batter and bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until the cupcake top bounces back after pressure is applied.
3.  Frost with chocolate frosting and dip the top of the cupcake in crushed Oreo Cookies; top with a mint leaf to serve as a seedling. If desired, add a gummy worm or two.
Tip: Pull the chocolate cookie part off of each Oreo, so there’s no white filling in the "dirt."

Serve them in little 3 inch terracotta pots!
