5 favorite products for healthy living

Here are some of my favorite new products that I’ve tried recently…

I love the name of this one!  Brazilian Bum Bum Cream contains coconut oil, brazil nuts, acai and a natural form of caffeine that gives your tushy a soft and firm appearance, and it’s also great for your legs, body and arms).

The use of native Brazilian ingredients and a nice scent are an added bonus!

Also by Sol de Janeiro,  is the amazing Samba Foot Fetish Care set.  The set contains a luxurious foot cream made with similar natural ingredients as the Bum Bum Cream, but it is specially formulated to pamper your feet!

It also comes with a cute surf board shaped foot board that is used to buff out any rough skin before you use the cream.  The treatment leaves your feet feeling smooth and the instantly absorbing formula doesn’t leave your feet slippery or messy.

I recently discover the Pereg food line of Mediterranean products. They carry a huge variety of quinoa, couscous, farro, spices and other healthy ingredients and foods. I was intrigued with some lesser known spice mixes Like Shawarma, Hilba (aka Fenugreek) and Sumac, which are all known to be beneficial to our health.

While most people think of spices, seasonings and herbs as the substances that make our food taste good, these colorful ingredients also pack a nutritional punch.

They're filled with an impressive list of phyto-nutrients, essential oils, antioxidants, minerals and vitamins that are essential for overall wellness.   I especially love the Shawarma blend.

Here's the Chicken Shawarma recipe that I recently cooked for my family.  (They loved it!)

Chicken Shawarma

Shawarma is a Middle Eastern dish of garlicky meat or poultry served on pitas. This chicken version is flavored with a savory yogurt sauce.

Yield: 4 servings

Chicken:
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 ½  teaspoon Pereg Shawarma blend
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
½  teaspoon salt
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast, cut into 16 (3-inch) strips

Sauce:
½  cup plain 2% reduced-fat Greek yogurt (such as Fage)
2 tablespoons tahini
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
¼  teaspoon salt
1 garlic clove, minced

Remaining ingredients:
Cooking spray
4 (6-inch) pitas
1 cup chopped romaine lettuce
8 (1/4-inch-thick) tomato slices

Preparation

1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

2. To prepare chicken, combine first 5 ingredients in a medium bowl. Add chicken to bowl; toss well to coat. Let stand at room temperature about 20 minutes.

3. Prepare the sauce by combining yogurt and next 4 ingredients (through 1 garlic clove), stirring with a whisk.

4. Thread 2 chicken strips onto each of 8 (12-inch) skewers. Place kebabs on a grill rack coated with cooking spray;  grill 4 minutes on each side or until done.

5. Place pitas on grill rack; grill 1 minute on each side or until lightly toasted. Place 1 pita on each of 4 plates; top each serving with 1/4 cup lettuce and 2 tomato slices.

Top each serving with 4 chicken pieces; drizzle each serving with 2 tablespoons sauce.

My Green Fills is an environmentally friendly company that makes a great line of laundry detergents and laundry products.  What I really love about My Green Fills is that you only have to but one jug and then you just replenish your supply with formula packets and water.

There is no excessive waste of those huge laundry jugs that take up so much room in our landfills.  The products are safe and also hypoallergenic, non-toxic and 100% natural.

You can automatically sign up to have the laundry soaps, fabric softeners, color brighteners and stain removers sent to you monthly.  I have been using these for about two months and couldn’t be happier!

My Green Fills also makes a non-toxic al 100% natural line of sun screens and bug sprays. They have a mild and pleasant scent and will not irritate the most sensitive skin.  They also offer a free sample if you just visit their website here.

Let me know if you try any of these products and what you thought of them!
